Booked this hotel online and found a jem. Friendly helpful hosts and staff, brilliant chef. Cosy traditional pub where the locals gathered in the evening. Lovely food and comfortable accommodation. Nothing bad to say. Perfect base for touring Ardnamurchan. We had a view of Loch Sunart from our bedroom window. Will be back. more

We enjoyed our stay at Salen Hotel - the room was small but really nicely decorated with a loch view. The bar was full of locals and bustling in the evening and the food in the restaurant that evening was nice. The cooked breakfast in the morning was fantastic - local produce and really nicely done. A magnificently laid back establishment with terrific food. Whilst it's true to describe it as not cheap, the special offers can make it very enticing: we had three nights for the price of two. The location, views (towards Loch Sunart) and room are excellent here. Not the best value for money though as some of the service is a bit rough around the edges. I last visited this small hotel several years ago - seared on my memory for its terrible 1970s decor, fine breakfast and breathtaking scenery.
