The Lochabar Beach Lodge is another favorite place based on the three places that I've stayed at on Long Island. The booking here was arranged by Judy Knowles (and her sister Nancy), who knows everyone and is very, very friendly.
The beach for the resort is wonderful as it is in a protected cove where boats come to anchor. If you want a place without any waves and fine white sand, this is it! With supervision, even tiny children can play in the sand here; however, be VERY careful as the depth drops off very quickly after a few yards out into the cove and the water is quite deep.
The resort has a building with a very nice upper and two nice lower dwellings. Each unit has full electrical power and air conditioning, as well as a sitting area where the doors can be opened to let the breezes through.
