Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Place is really very old and the room is very, very small. Sink is also common so you need to be literally go out of your room to use it. In the shower, water is really not that strong so you need to put your head close to the wall so you can wash your hair. The helpers are really very nice, but they need to do an upgrade of the place already to make their guests comfortable. There are better, newer places around the area that you can try.

Went to Ilocos for a family vacation and we stayed here for 1 night. My brother went here often, so we stayed here. Too bad we were not able to experience the food here because there was no available cook. The rooms and surroundings were clean. We asked for ice because of a small accident, it was almost midnight but they were still very helpful. Worth it for the price.

Our youth group stayed here after a long journey from Manila. It was a so comfy and inviting to our group of 50. Our room had air conditioning and was well kept. The amenities were very quaint and rustic but so "home away from home! I love the cozy dining area that turns into a conversation spot before heading to bed. Good Value for your stay! Less than 1/2 an hour from Hannah beach resort.

Pagtarusan Lodge is actually like a "home accomodation" so don't expect hotel amenities when you check in. Here are my comments: 1. The location is very good. It is midway between the Bangui Windmills and Pagudpud Beach. 2. The area around the lodge is so peaceful. The air is so fresh and clean! The front side of the lodge is overlooking the northern part of the Cordillera Mountain Range (really great view!) while the back side is overlooking the Bangui beach. 3. The lodge is along the main road within Bangui town proper so it is very accessible to transportation. Just go out the lodge and wait for a bus, jeepney, or tricycle to pass by. The lodge staff can advise you which transportation you should ride. 4. The lodge owner and the staffs are really friendly and accommodating. 5. We reserved 2 airconditioned rooms. Both are clean, comfortable, and looks great (rustic ilocano-theme). The shower and toilet are clean but separate from the room. 6. There is a nice garden where you can hang-out with your friends. Actually, our meals (breakfast and dinner) were served in the nipa hut on the garden. That was a really nice experience! 7. Best of all was the food! We pre-ordered meals (breakfast and dinner) when I had my room reservation transaction. No menu was available but that was not a problem. They will surely surprise and satisfy you with a very delicious dish! We were served ilocano dishes during our stay. For an extraordinary experience, I highly recommend this lodge!

I found this four years ago and every time I go back to Ilocos Norte, this is where I stay. I conduct photography workshops and this is my usual place for accommodations. The location is very near the Bangui wind farm and that's one of the reasons I like Pagtarusan. The place is also near the market and the town hospital. The place itself was a converted house. It has two floors which has a lot of rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned. This is particularly good for family or group outings. They have multiple comfort rooms out side the rooms. It is communal, but plenty enough for everyone. Some may not like it but I think otherwise. They have big and small rooms but I usually reserve the big room for my family and the rest for my students. The rooms and bathrooms are old but very clean. They have an outdoor area for dining and socializing. The owner is a very good cook and everything they serve us is really good. I definitely recommend this place.

This gotta be one most memorable places I've stayed in my whole as a solo traveler!! I loved every moment this house gave me!! I practically had the whole big house for myself for my whole duration since I traveled in the low season and man it was the best!!! The owner is real awesome and friendly!! Fast wifi!! This place beats any 5 star hotel!! The place itself is 5-10mins walk to the beach can from there you can walk to the windmills (the 20th Mill) Thanks so much for the awesome experience! I will surely be back!!

Pagtarusan lodge is a quaint famliy house in Bangui in the Northern Philippines. It is owned by a retired pilot and his wife who are very warm and accommodating. There are a lot of activities around the place. One can go surfing in the nearby Pagudpud, explore the waterfalls in Kabigan, check out the oldest lighthouse in the Philippines, take some pictures of the first ever windmill farm, etc. A week's stay minus the travel time from Manila and back is definitely worth it. The place is a 12 hour bus ride from Manila so be prepared for a long journey. The food is homecooked as Pagtarusan Lodge is more of a B&B place than an actual hotel. This is what makes it charming and original. Check it out!
