After several days in Quito on business, we found Hacienda Cusin to be delightful. While British owner/host Nick Milhouse professes to have modeled his hotel on Fawlty Towers, he brings something to the hotel that is distinctive and charming. His keen eye for antiques and textiles, jumbled together throughout the sprawling group of cottages and rooms, is surrounded by charming... more

This is worth the hike! The hacienda has a beautiful and peaceful garden, and the clean rooms boast wonderful views. The accomodating staff is at your service and can recommend itineraries and cultural diversions. The food is delicious! The hacienda on its own is a museum of Ecuadorian history and culture with many antique items and pieces of artwork. I... more

We spent two nights here in this extensive hacienda and enjoyed every minute. A huge room centrally located with huge bed and and log fire, nice bathroom, elegant restaurant with good food, many other public rooms available and extensive flowered courtyards and gardens. Good English spoken, good service (bags carried). Well located for Otavalo etc. more

I'd been to this Hacienda a few times in the past and the experience just gets better everytime. The service is old school - personal, quick, with a touch of elegance. The rooms have improved over the years, mine had a fireplace this time and it was cozy and romantic. There is lots to do in the area and the... more

The Hacienda's old and with that comes quirks that make it charming. I stayed in the main house in a room with a fireplace (make sure to ask for this, otherwise you get a space heater which isn't quite the charm they're going for, but may/may not be more consistent heating). The reason I truly loved my stay here was... more

After reading some reviews about Hacienda Cusin, and having been there twenty years ago, I decided to go back for a relaxing visit. I went to stay there with my sister and niece. Although the place is indeed located in a beautiful setting, I found the hacienda poorly maintained, unkempt and neglected. The food in the restaurant was terrible. I... more

The master suite is an experience by itself, we loved the collection of antiques, the traditional cuisine and the service is impeccable, as far as activities go…Biking along the San Pablo Lake to Otavalo was our favorite.... We certainly recommend Cusin to all our friends and family Roger Valencia more

What a magical trip to Hacienda Cusin! Stayed 7 nights there. Was a solo female traveler who was completely safe and well-cared for at all times. Staff picked me up from the Quito airport at midnight (in spite of a 3 hour delay), suggested and arranged for day trips, and were always thoughtful and helpful. I have traveled all over... more

This is a wonderful place to decompress-- as others have said, the grounds and food are terrific, and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. We were with two young children who really enjoyed the outdoor areas, which include a play area and a hidden door to one of the monastary towers accross the street from the hacienda (also part of... more

For first time travelers to Ecuador, there is no better place to stay than Hacienda Cusin. The rooms are beautiful, often elegant, and each with its own fireplace. The gardens are full of continually blooming flowers, darting hummingbirds and gliding doves. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. But this is just the beginning. Hacienda Cusin offers remarkable... more
