If you read the reviews you will see a wide range of responses. The key is expectation and adventure. The Mirador is a unique property, one of a kind and in my opinion well worth a brief visit. It is true that the hotel is a bit rundown, where not everything works up to standard. Ours did not have a... more

A few daus ago, I found a great last-minute airfare, and the El Mirador was one of the only hotels that had availability, so I booked it. I saw on Frommer's.com that it was rated, so I figured that I had found a diamond in the rough. It certainly wasn't a diamond....more like fool's gold. You see, when traveling to... more

We have just got back from El MIrador Acapulco. Overall the place is charming with a faded Hollywood glory. The main problem and problem in general though is that not much English is spoken here at this resort and my Spanish is poor. My husband however is quite good. The hotel is old but makes up for it with the... more

El Mirador has a fabulous view. But that's about it. This hotel is the divorced woman who got ditched by her husband for a younger woman and is in need of plastic surgery overhaul. We showed up without a reservation and were quickly shown a room with a living room and "kitchen". The price was right (for four people), and... more

The view from the hotel is unparalleled. It is truely magnificent. The accomodations are fine, nothing special, but clean. The lower hotel has an amazing view, but is small and there are few chairs. The upper hotel is larger with a horrible view. Unfortunately niether pool is kid-free which makes it hard to find a quiet spot. We got a... more

What a great view from our room, pacific ocean on one side, acapulco bay on the other. Having dinner while watching the cliff divers is amazing. But the hotel needs repairs. The blinds in our bedroom had missing slates allow people to see in, the plug in the bath did not work, i had to fix the fuse on the... more

What a shame to come away with disappointments from an otherwise wonderful trip. Must agree with report given by the Missouri travelers who stated that the advertised "complimentary airport transportation" was not provided. Also, the bottled water was not included. Staff/management indifferent when we showed them the printed materials advertising these amenities. I even emailed them twice prior to arrival... more

El Mirador-The Grande Dame of Acapulco- It can best be described as a 2-star hotel. What a shame that it may soon be out-classed by other, more modern hotels in the area. There are many signs of deterioration. It needs more of everything! More paint, more hardware replacements, more landscaping, more service personnel with at least some command of English,... more

I just returned from my second trip to Acapulco and look forward to making my third. My first trip was on our honeymoon 28 years ago so I hope I don't wait that long for the next! My next trip won't be for the glitz and glamour if that is what you call the newer section of the strip, it... more

The location of this hotel is fantastic, overlooking La Quebrada where the cliff diving takes place. Unfortunately the hotel relies on this fact and seems to think that means they can get away with tired rooms and poor service. Our room was very disappointing (and up LOTS of stairs which didn't really bother us but would be a problem if... more
