Villa Roxana in Pie de la Cuesta is a good basic near-the-beach hotel in Pie de la Cuesta. The owner, Roxana Nicolas, really goes out of her way to make guests happy and manages the operations there really professionally.
Rooms are simple with fans and showers only. There are different sized rooms and apartments and I would definitely recommend getting one with a porch. It's nice to sit outside, especially given that the rooms have no furniture other than the beds and dressers and so there's no place to sit in the rooms except for the beds.
The easiest way to get to the hotel from Acupulco is by taxi or local bus. The beach isn't good for swimming at all, but great for jogging and walking, and just relaxing in a hammock while enjoying drinks and fresh seafood prepared and brought out to you.
