The lonely planet gave a good review of this hotel, so I went for it at the cost of roughly 35 dollars a night and, as recommended by the guide, asked for a room with a balcony.
First off, The hotel had no charm, neither in the common areas nor the rooms. My room's windows couldn't close and the AC unit was old and so made a ton of noise. The bed was OK, nothing more, and the TV was small. The worst though is that a room with a balcony means being right in front of an incredibly loud bar that blasts reggaeton. So it was impossible to sleep to begin with. Then a trio of hummers that were cruising came by at one point to show off their sound systems for about 45 minutes. With the windows rattling, that was the final straw, and I asked to be moved to another room at 2-3am.
The room I was moved to had a modern AC unit, a better TV, but no windows (which, yes, meant no daylight... but fortunately also meant no reggaeton).
The staff is clueless. Really...
