We were a bit apprehensive about the Barcelo-Ixtapa because a lot of the reviews weren't very good. My husband told me to ignore them, because a lot of travelers think their Mexican experience will be like the USA or Canada. For the people who didn't like it, they could not have stayed in the same hotel as us. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. We LOVED our room. It was spacious, spotless and had a phenomonal view of the pools, the ocean and the surrounding beauty. The food was so delish and an amazing variety. Lots of fresh veggies and fruits. The papaya was to die for! (I bought some when I returned home and there was no comparison.) We had really good cocktails , and some of the best liquor was poured. The staff was so accommadating and friendly. That area of Mexico is so beautiful. Very lush and tropical. Just dont tell anyone about it as it's still a well kept secret.:) more
