I've traveled abroad extensively, staying in everything from hostels to cheap hotels to bed and breakfasts to pricey resorts. I hate to give bad reviews. In fact, I've only feeled compelled to write one negative review in recent years for a dump of a place in New York. I have to say, unfortunately, that my experience at the Faro was... more

We stayed at the Faro from March 19th to the 24th. I was really worried after reading the reviews. The place is older and could use some upgrades, but overall it is a typical Mexican resort. The food was very good but not a big variety. The staff treated us well. The only thing we didn't like was the stairs.... more

This hotel was horrible! The food was awful. It took them 45 minutes to find my reservation - which I had a printed confirmation of. The staff was not friendly and did not seem to like Americans - at all. The building could use a remodel. The bed is hard as a rock. The towels appeared stained or not clean. more

We booked this All Inclusive (A.I.) resort package through Orbitz, and it has been a nightmare especially when we were told we did not pay for A.I. even after showing our confirmation, and even after talking with an Orbitz Rep., still hassling with refund. The grounds are beautiful, and as others said watch out for all the stairs steps as... more

My wife and I spent the first week of 2008 here. First the GOOD. Make sure you get an ocean front room. The view is fantastic. The rooms are very large and quite adequate. Also, the hotel grounds are well kept and in a very nice secluded area. You have your own small private beach and if you walk to... more

I went to Mazatlan the last week of December. I am going to cover a lot of aspects here since I was a guest and have insider information since I speak Spanish. FOOD: The best you can do here is breakfast, and don't show up at the tail end of the time period of availability because who knows what will... more

This was my first trip out of the U.S. with my son (22) The beach is secluded - the rooms are old - but it is mexico! The view was spectacular - the staff fabulous - - It really beat the stuffyness of a 5 star hotel - it was like being in mexico with the native people - really... more

I stayed at the Faro Mazatlan for four days in July. Good: private beach, friendly waiters, clean rooms, nice bartenders pouring strong drinks. Bad: small and overcrowded pool, awful food, no room amenities other than a television. Overall, the experience wasn't great and I probably wouldn't stay there again. It's just not a really nice resort. The rooms are extremely... more
