The owner, Paul, seems to be in the wrong business. This B&B came highly rated and we were looking forward to our stay. But then he suddenly cancelled our reservation and returned our deposit after he learned that we had an early morning flight on the day of our departure. He sent a very rude email suggesting we find a... more

What a wonderful place! We still think about our good fortune in finding this jewel of a retreat. As is common in Mexico, all is hidden , although the front of the converted convent is very inviting. Still, one is hardly prepared for the impact as one enters. Cool, decorated with magnificent art and antiques, the large hall opens onto a... more

My girlfriend and I stayed at Old Guadalajara in December of 2008 and were delighted with this bed and breakfast. Paul is a wonderful and generous host. He is always willing to provide ample information regarding restaurants and sights to see. On New Year’s Eve he invited us to spend the evening with him and friends; he prepared an amazing... more

Fellow travelers: Being in the hotel business myself, I am bold enough to tell you that you need to search no more. Exquisitely decorated lodging, superb breakfast prepared by the owner himself, delightful conversation and right in the center of GDL. If I ever return to GDL, I will definitely return to this oasis. As I am writing this, I... more

An immaculately maintained former convent, with huge rooms, tall ceilings, and a ton of charm. The place is beautifully decorated with both Mexican art and other artifacts from around the world. Each room has its own character but all are tastefully done. The best part o the stay was the breakfasts, which were out of this world. I can still... more

We stayed here for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The home is lovely, and the rooms are very comfortable. There are no TVs in the rooms, but that encourages you to get out and explore the city. Paul & Arturo were extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area. It's located in the historic downtown, so all the historic buildings... more

4 Blocks from the Opera house square: busy and vibrant, yet close the front door and you are in your own world: remote and serene with a fountain and quite courtyard. Go to sleep from exploits from the night prior (salsa), wake up to hummingbirds and bells. Paul is an excellent and gracious host and has done a magnificent job... more

Pictures do not justify the beauty and architectural integrity of this home. This home is a classic example of the patio/colonial home. The hosts, Paul & Arturo were also very gracious. Paul makes the most wonderful bread, homemade jam, and delicious breakfasts. If you stay in a hotel while in Guadalajara you will truely miss a significant part of the... more

A great B&B for those who adore art, antiques, architecture and SUNLIGHT. The open-air house has a fountain in the front entrance and huge shady plants that filter beautiful light into the courtyard all day. We spent our honeymoon there, and enjoyed a huge formal breakfast served in the patio. The owner, Paul, is an American who's lived in the... more

We visited Old Guadalajara Bed and Breakfast 10 days ago. It was a wonderful experience from the opulent breakfasts to the fresh flowers in every suite. The owners Paul and Arturo make you feel at home and are always there to help you in your travel needs. Their home is a charming 16th century building full of antiques and art.... more
