The building is a beautiful old house, but it can´t be rated as a four stars hotel. When i just came into the hotel i didn´t know if it was open, because nobody aproached to me, i had to ask to some guys that were talking on the corner of the lobby area. In the hotel there is not a... more

My first concern with El Aposento was in the taxi as we were approaching the hotel. No one has yet mentioned the area where the hotel is located. Although it is fairly close to the center of town, it is on a dark, narrow street, not in the best area, and it is quite a walk to the true center... more

I had called and emailed this hotel to reserve a room (but received no confirmation) after seeing the reviews on this site and seeing it advertised as "the premier gay hotel in Guadalajara" as per gaygdl web site. When I arrived, I asked to see a few rooms before making a decision. The "best" one was right near the reception... more

I spent the Christmas holidays (Dec. 21 thru 29) visiting cousins I haven't seen in 41 years. I stayed at the Hotel El Aposento, in the Historic Center of Guadalajara. Two blocks from Avenida Juarez, this beautiful old house was a very pleasant getaway from the big, BIG hotels one might rather stay in. The rooms were spacious and clean.... more

I cannot believe some of the things I have read here about this hotel. Not only is it clean and charming; I never found the staff to be anything but courteous. Of course, they are not always as obliging as waitstaff in the States, still I felt they were competent. The place has an amazing history as well as an... more

Booked this hotel for 3 nights after reading some good reviews in Trip Advisor. Only stayed 1 night & found it a big disappointment. The place does have huge potential & is in a lovely old building, but there is apparently little, if any, management oversight & housekeeping is lacking at best. I travel to Mexico 4-5 times each year... more
