This B&B was a delight, in the mountains just a 2 1/2 hr drive from PV. Meson de Santa Elena is one of the Historic Haciendas and Casonas of Mx. We decided to stay in the "middle" town between Talpa and San Sebastian, but had no idea 2 nights wouldn't be enough to experience all there was to do in and close to Mascota. A large reservoir with small launches that take you meandering back and around through the acres of tree lined lake. Small museum supported by Nat'l Georgraphic. Nearby petroglphs. Jeep exploration into the hills. Picture perfect tiny towns above Mascota. Volcanos, volcanic lakes, you name it. We only spent 2 hrs in nearby Talpa, for a few bottles of traditional rompope (Mx eggnog) to bring back, along with famous guava roll. Then headed back to Mascota and the welcoming Inn. Just lovely - spanish style inner courtyard with lots of flowers, birds, fountain, and easy chairs all around the courtyard, to rest read in late afternoon while sipping wine or beer...
