The best this hotel has to offer is its location. Everything is just 5 minutes away walking. This is convenient, as you're close to most things but not in the middle of all the noise. Breakfast is included. Don't expect too many dishes to choose from, though. Milk, fruit juices, cereals, fruit, coffee, bread, scrambled eggs, beans and that's about... more

My friend and I just came from this hotel today. We booked it directly and got a better rate then on Expedia. Also, we could book it with just giving our credit card number, nothing else. They gave us very good directions on how to get to them, then met us on the street to take us to the parking.... more

I stayed at this fabulous hotel in 2003 and loved every minute of it! The steps were great exercise and the inner courtyard was beautiful. There was no central ac but you don't need it because of the dry climate and elevation of Guanajuato. Nights were aways cool and comfortable. The windows lacked screens but there were never any insects... more

While the hotel enjoys a great location close to the Jardin, it could use a good cleaning with a product that does not smell like cheap men's cologne. The bathroom was extremely small and the kitchen in our room had absolutely no dishes or utensils. The breakfast was adequate at best. I thought the furniture in the lobby and breakfast... more

I showed up in GTO as a solo traveller and went to El Meson de los Poetas without a reservation and it was ok because it was an off-peak travel season. A lot of GTO hotels offer different prices, depending on whether you're paying with cash or credit card but El Meson had the same price of 950 pesos per... more

We found El Meson de los Poetas to be a very friendly, charming hotel. We stayed in two separate rooms on two separate occasions -- both were very clean, with firm beds, and private bathrooms for about $99 / night. Not luxurious, nothing fancy, but certainly nice with an artistic touch. The hotel rambles up and down on multiple levels.... more

Everything about this hotel is great - location, service, ambiance. My room was on the 4th floor and while it didn't have a view, it had its own private patio, very qiuet and cozy, with comfortable bed. The breakfast is served in a lovely courtyard and is delicious. The hotel also exhibits artwork from local and foreign artists. Another plus... more

A great tripadvisor found!! Absolutely loved the Casa de las poetas! The location is stunning, only a few doors down to the birthplace of Diego Rivera and at night with a beautiful view over Guanajuato! You're very close to the city's attractions - if you want to leave your hotel at all because it's stunning! :) The staff was overly... more

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in Feb. 2008 and loved it. The hotel itself is a restored colonial mansion a few blocks from the center of town. The room -the Jose Marti Suite was very large and decorated nicely with period paintings. The bed was large and very firm but we like it that way. The bathroom... more

Good points - perfect location, situated just on the edge of town so you can walk anywhere. Attentive staff. Large, charming room. Good breakfast. Not so good points - tiny bathroom, noisy on wekends so you'll need earplugs. Lots of steps to get to the rooms. more
