I had the good fortune to stay a week at the Hotel Gala de Oaxaca and will stay there on my next visit to that country. Excellent location combined with attentive, polite staff and clean rooms added to the quality of my stay. There is a small Cafe on the premises which served good, local cuisine in a timely manner.... more

Oaxaca is an absolutely magical place to spend time over the Christmas period! It was pure enchantment being there and I am already planning when I will return. If it is during one of their peak festival seasons, or if you only have a limited amount of time, location becomes a very important factor to consider. For that reason I... more

We stayed at the Hotel Gala on our last night in Oaxaca because the B&B were staying in was totally booked, and what a let down it was. The hotel is located right on the zocalo and is horrible. The room was small and the bathroom is very very small. We got a room in the first floor facing the... more

the hotel is located at the corner of the main square. Close to sights, restaurants and markets. The room was fair considering the price and the staff very helpful. Especially the piccolo who helped us in every way possible. some of the rooms dont have windows - well they do but they face an inside hallway... if you're 'allergic' to... more

Hotel staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Four of us had two rooms, one with a window facing the street and one in the interior. Surprisingly, the interior room was noisy due to other hotel guests and the room with the window facing Bustamante was fine! The location was wonderful, close to all the restaurants and sights of the Zocalo... more

Centrally located, with outstanding customer service. Right in the center of the Zocalo, this hotel was a great starting point everyday. Good food, and comfortable beds. Close to the major roadways, and the staff took care of everything that was asked of them with a smile. Our room had a balcony that looked right into the town square. And the... more

My husband and I took our two youngest (6) and (3) and my mother in law (77). We figured one good night out without the kids while they spent time with their grandma. We arrived at the resort close to ten PM with two very tired, but excited boys. The resort put out additional food for our late arrival and... more

My wife and I ended up staying at this little gem after fleeing our original hotel. It was last minute so she ran out with a guidebook and pesos for the phone in hand while I attempted to check out. She ended up just walking into the Hotel Gala de Oaxaca due to its superb location. As it was last... more

I stayed at the Hotel Gala during the Christmas period 2004. The hotel is in a perfect location right on the southwest corner of the Zocala and it is not expensive. However, despite their advertisements staff speak very little English and as previous posters have said, are quite unhelpful. The hotel although clean, totally lacks any atmosphere which was quite... more

We stayed at Gala Hotel last weekend. Hotel was indeed clean and staff corteous. But, few rooms have a window to the street, must of them have windows to an inner corridor wich means few light and ventilation. We were given one of those but ask for a change (you can really become claustrophobic). No elevator, so if you are... more
