The hotel is lovely and right on the zocalo, which makes for a great location, but perhaps not the most quiet one (if you have rooms facing the zocalo). top marks from almost everybody who rated this hotel ? too shocking. the location is great right on the zocalo. it could be a problem at times because of the noise but that doesn't bother me. otherwise the hotel is very average and nothing to rave about. we paid over $100 a night only because all other hotels were already... more

This was my sixth trip to Oaxaca and my third stay at the Marques. Location, Location, Location! The hotel is staffed by people who are truly dedicated to making your stay comfortable. What a pleasant surprise! The Marques del Valle hotel has undergone a total renovation. Room decour is excelent. Many rooms with an electronic safe, ceramic floors, hair drier, fluffy giant bath towels, etc. The owner has taken back control of the restaurant. this hotel, adjacent to the Cathedral, is a beautiful, historical monument. the staff is gracious, rooms fantastic, and if requested, you can enjoy the zocalo from your balcony. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else....even though oaxaca is full of gorgeous, old hotels. sj more

A trip to Oaxaca is a step back in time and the Hotel Marques del Valle reflects that charm. Located next to the Catedral de Oaxaca, the Marques overlooks the zocalo brimming with vendors during the day and filled with music everynight, sometimes all night. Great zocalo view, large rooms but thats ALL. Poor lighting (a bulb hanging from a wire from the ceiling) and poor beds. The idea of paying $100 a night for this is totally ludicrous even with the great increase in Oaxaca hotel prices. more

Marques Del Valle is a wonderful place to catch all the action on the square. The Zocalo becomes the lobby and restuarant. The corner rooms are best. Clean and nice bath tubs! I stay every time I'm in town (6 times!) more
