We loved our stay in Oaxaca and the Casa embodied the best of the region. From the amazing breakfasts to the evening conversation with the interesting fellow guests it was perfect. Jane, the owner, and Amado, the manager, were entertaining and helpful in every way and set us up with an excellent driver/guide. So historic, beautiful and comfortable, we especially... More

All in all we spent more than seven weeks at the Casa in two installments. It was wonderful to return there—to the wonderful garden—after days spent exploring Oaxaca, its museums and its cultural events, most notable of which were the Independence Day celebration, the Days of the Dead and the run up to Christmas which we normally dislike in Europe.... It was a very spontaneous decision to visit Oaxaca and was based on some internet photos of the city. Casa Colonial is listed on a B&B website and after researching reviews on Trip Adviser, I booked it without hesitation. What a great place to stay! Many of the guests over the New Year weekend were repeat customers, some of whom... More

Casa Colonial is a beautiful old hacienda with 15 rooms and a patio surrounding a lush tropical garden. The food is great. The service is likewise. We found the Casa gracious and relaxing. Each of the guests is more interesting than the next, whether young or older. There is a comfortable living room (sala) filled with interesting books and local... More

I stayed at Casa Colonial for 5 nights over Christmas and New Year. We had 2 large bedrooms with a double and single in each, interconnected by a private bathroom. Very spacious. Oaxaca can be a noisy city, but Casa Colonial, with the rooms all surrounding a lovely interior courtyard garden, is a quiet oasis. The staff are wonderful, headed... More

My husband and I stayed at the Casa, and found it to be lovely and a wonderful base for our stay in Oaxaca. The staff was more than helpful, and Amado checked in with us often to see if we needed help making plans for the day or needed ideas for things to do. The city is full of options,... More

Casa Colonial is the most enjoyable bed and breakfast I've stayed at. The staff is friendly and helpful. The meals were very good. They have a fantastic library and wonderful garden. Amado, the manager, was always helpful. He recommended Victor, who we hired for two day trips to a farmer's market, historical churches and artist villages. The B & B... More

Casa Colonial makes a wonderful place to relax and enjoy all your time in Oaxaca. The rooms are clean and quaint. The breakfasts are delightful, authentic Mexican meals. I fell in love with the garden with birds and adorable folk art everywhere. Amodo will make you feel at home and taken care of. (He'll make you a mean margarita if... More

I spent a week at Casa Colonial and had an absolutely lovely time. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. The manager, Amado, is invaluable and made us feel completely taken care of. They also recommended fantastic guides, principally guide Nicholas Garcia. The rooms are beautiful, clean without being sterile. The Casa has such a safe and trusting atmosphere that... More
