We stayed at Las Arcos based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotels oozes charm and authenticity. It is very close to the Zocalo. It is also close to Cafe Sasha and Sotevento Restaurant which we believe was the best restaurant ever. My only gripe is the constant playing of the Bee Gee's music which had nothing... more

This hotel has character - it is an old building (1600s?) that was reportedly build as a hacienda and then latter used as a convent. The arches throughout the building are beautiful and there are many little sitting areas inside and out to enjoy the property. Our room was nicely and simply decorated. It had native artwork on the walls,... more

Loved this place! Very near to shopping and good restaurants. The rooms were nothing fancy but they were clean and spacious. Large bathroom with lots of hot water in the shower. The rooms are set around a beautiful plant and fountain filled courtyard. Quiet and comfortable. more

We spent 1 night there, could have spent a second night considering how much time you can spend shopping for silver, INCREDEBILE!!!! The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the centre (Zocalo) and Santa prisca, the silver shops are everywhere, so I think every single hotel is well located if you inted to do an extensive shopping. The room we... more

A great little hotel, with much of the old colonial features still intact. It doesn't have all the modern conveniences but it would detract from its character if it did. You have to book by phone. We did so from a call box in Ixtapa a few days before staying. We booked one room with bathroom and 3 beds (2... more

This beatifully decorated old monastery reminded me of a boutique hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and showed us many rooms before we decided on one. The rooms facing the street do have some street noise but there are plenty of rooms off the street. The suites are beautiful. The location, perfect. One block from the zocalo (town square). Amazing... more

I stepped into Hotel Los Arcos, and was instantly amazed with the beautiful architectural gem that would be my home for the next week! Hotel Los Arcos is not just a hotel, it is a piece of history! On all my travels, I always seek out historic places to stay, and this converted monastery dating back to 1620 certainly did... more

This is a beautiful old hotel set in an ancient monastery with a very welcoming atmosphere...the hotel is basic, but charming. The location is superb and although the facilities may be simple, they are spotless, comfortable and the patios are lovely. We have been staying here for the last 15 years (we come to mexico often!) and recommend the hotel... more

Here's my best attempt at a balanced review.... What was Good? 1. The location! The hotel is just a short walk up to the Zocalo (main square). In this very hilly town, this is important. 2. The price was low. Triples are 550 pesos/night (US$ 42); doubles are 475 pesos/night (US$37). 3. Room size. Our rooms were huge with 2... more

Hotel Los Arcos, is like a little retreat for me, within the magical town of Taxco and has a warmth you don't find in regular hotels. Wonderful for tourists or people on business. The staff are polite and gracious, and the locale is just a few minutes' walk from the center of town so you can frequent many good restaurants... more
