I agree with what many have already said: the hotel is very old and somewhat "shabby", but also reflects its splendor from days gone by....like a fading movie star of maybe 50 years ago! The rooms are tiled in the old Mexican style and the views of theTaxco cathedral and patchwork of roof tops from the many balconies are some... more

This hotel is listed by travel guides as being one of the top end hotels. The hotel has 3 stars attached to its name. Here's what we found out from local residents: Victoria (do not confuse with Rancho Victoria which is just across the street) was for over 4 decades one of the best hotels in town, with a restaurant... more

Rooms poorly appointed w/bare light-bulbs and lumpy beds, this place compares very poorly with similarly priced hotels in Taxco. I can't rate the restaurant, because it was closed due to unspecified problems at the time of my stay. Piles of construction material laying around the grounds complete the picture of a hotel long past its prime. more

This hotel provides an excellent view of the city of Taxco. The room was spacious with old beds. The bathroom was absolutely awful. Had mold growing everywhere in the grout of the tile and on the show curtains. We did not dare walk in the bathroom without slippers on. Took showers with flip flops on to avoid possible funcal infection.... more

I agree that is is dated but worth it. It is the Mexico I have known and loved for 40 years. The rooms are comfortable (antiquated to say the least) and very clean. The view is worth it. Quite a walk down those stairs but it provides the daily exercise own needs after dining in town. I will return there... more

The Victoria was a charming hotel when it was built some 50 years ago. Unfortunately, nothing has been done to it since then. The view of Taxco is spectacular, the rooms are spacious and have a lovely balcony but it is terribly down in the dumps. The bathroom was falling apart and there was NO hot water what so ever.... more

I went to Taxco this summer, July 2004, and took the advise of this website. Unfortunately I thought the hotel was a bit run down ... paint was flaking from the walls, large cracks around the windows, lock on the door was not working properly, bedroom could use some updating, bathroom could use some updating, no ceiling fans, balcony was... more

Great view of the cathedral. Adventurous climb down through tropical garden right onto the main street in about 2 1/2 minutes; total walk to plaza is only about 8 minutes. The place is fabulous for those who enjoy rustic charm. more

We first tried this place in January 1992--as our rented car pulled into their parking lot and I said, "Let's check this place out", the key broke off in the ignition! We had to stay to get a locksmith to come, anyway. Our room overlooked the Santa Prisco church, and had a little balcony, basic beds and a vibrantly tiled... more

Some of the other hotels are a little more polished, but the location and quaint funkiness of this place are really appealing. Easy access to town and the great Adobe restaurant.Worth the extra $ to enjoy a suite with a balcony. more
