For M$ 1444 I got a single with a king size bed. The furniture and decor needed cleaning / updating and my view was of generic rooftops. Skip breakfast and lunch at the restaurant but dinner was fantastic: Superb view, great service, wonderful food (ask for fish recommendations). What nobody told us was what a disgusting, dirty, hot, smelly, rude town Veracruz was. The only good thing about our 3 night stay there was the lovely Emporio. If you must go to Veracruz, definitely stay here. The price was listed as $160 a night for a standard room, but we got it for $80. Definitely get a harbor-side... more

I have been, many times, to Hotel Emporio just to chill. The hotel has excellent service, great views, and reasonable rates. Best of all is Emporio's fantastic restaurant - especially the Sea Bass Veracruzana. Easy access to all of Veracruz and many countryside tours. I'm returning in September for another two weeks of relaxation. more
