I really loved the service!!! Reception was kind and made us feel welcomed. As Mexican Americans, we have experienced poor customer service from staff at other resorts, but RIU Las Americas treated us like family. Special shoutout to our waiter for most of our trip Arcos and to the AM reception staff, we appreciate your accommodations. To Juan and Eduardo from the pool bar service, thank you for always making sure we had a drink in our hand! We will definitely be booking with RIU for all of our future trips.

Hotel's Favourite
Absolutely fantastic all inclusive adults only hotel. My partner and I spent 12 days here in May 2023 and can't rate it highly enough. We were told the rainy season was about to start but we only had one night when there was any rain, and there was plenty within the hotel to keep you busy when it did rain. General hotel The hotel was absolutely spotless, it was constantly being cleaned and was well maintained. The staff are fantastic, really attentive and you can tell they take pride in what they do. The Lobby is beautiful, and all the different areas are superb. We were all inclusive and I was amazed at what was included as there's usually hidden extra charges - everything I mention below was included. Food/ drinks There are 5 restaurants to choose from, and they're all brilliant. You don't need to reserve at the a la cart restaurants, and if it's busy you get a buzzer and can wait in the art deco bar in the lobby. In order of my preference I'd recommend 1) the Japanese restaurant - amazing sushi and ramen, 2) the buffet - so much choice and always delicious 3) the Italian - the dinner menu was great and you can also get lunch in here too 4) the fusion restaurant - some interesting combos and finally 5) the steak restaurant - surf and turf option but there's better places to eat in my opinion. There's also a 25 hour snack bar which always had fresh guac and salsa for nachos, as well as quesadillas, burrito, hot dogs and pizza. There were fridges of bottled water, optics and a coffee machine in there too. There was only one day we were there that they seemed to run out of water in the snack bar but the rest of the time it was always being restocked with fresh food and water. Coffee bar There's a hot drink and cake bar in the lobby and which was open until late. You can get various hot and hold drinks as well as a lovely selection of cakes and ice cream. I had earl grey tea and my partner had the lattes - always great! Bars There were several bars to choose from, but generally you'd get table (sun lounger) service, even on the beach! There were premium drinks like Bacardi and lovely cocktails. I highly recommend margarita on the rocks. The staff were lovely and really looked after you, anticipating when you needed a top up. I can't fault the service we received, always friendly and welcoming in the restaurants and the bars. They even helped the folks who couldn't handle their drinks by piling them into wheelchairs and taking them back to their rooms (something I've never seen before, and found quite shocking). Thankfully that wasn't a regular occurrence that I saw, and not the sort of behaviour I'd expect from people choosing to stay in this lovely hotel. Pools There were three pools which were all well maintained. The first pool which you come across as you exit the lobby is stunning, particularly at night when it's lit up and you look across it to the ocean. This one got the sun in the morning/ early afternoon and the sun loungers always seemed to be reserved. The quiet pool to the left and behind the theatre was great, quite small but plenty of cabanas and loungers to choose from, with beautiful views out to the sea. The party pool to the right, which had music and the animation team. It isn't my cup of tea but looked like a lot of fun if you were up for getting involved, or joining the foam party. There were two bars at that pool, one of them a swimup. The music, although loud, wasn't disruptive and I quite enjoyed sitting a little further away but getting to hear the tunes. Beach access There's also a private stretch of beach with plenty of loungers and parasols, we never struggled to find a lounger. The sea is gorgeous and the staff again work hard to keep it clean and make sure your drink is topped up. There's life guards if you're swimming and you're still close enough to the hotel if you need to nip in for anything. You're given cards when you check in which you can exchange for pool towels, and I'd recommend taking a thermos cup/ chili bottle to keep your drinks cold! Rooms The room we had (555) was exactly as pictured on trip advisor. We had a great view out the side of th hotel so we could see the ocean and the bay, and got the most stunning sunsets. I'd recommend that floor and I think it was rooms 550-560 that had that view. The rooms were kept immaculate, cleaned daily and you got to choose of they changed the sheets/ towels. There were a couple of days when the bottled water wasn't replenished but as I mentioned the snack bar always had plenty. The fridge always had pepsi, pepsi light, 7up and tonic water and the optics were refilled with Jose cuervo, Smirnoff, Bacardi and Gordon's gin! Perfect for chilling with a drink on the balcony as the sun set before dinner. Housekeeping left us cute towel arrangements on the bed which I loved, a really nice touch. Entertainment There was always something happening, from morning yoga stretching to volleyball, to quizzes to live music at night. We'd heard everything stopped quite early but didn't find that to be the case. Things were going on until about 11pm and then you could head to the sister hotel next door to use their nightclub if you wanted to keep going! Tips I found a good article on Skyscanner about how much to tip in Cancun (if this isn't something you're used to). We took pesos with us and tipped the bar and wait staff regularly. Usually 20 or 50 pesos depending on whether it was sun lounger service or going up to the bar ourselves. At dinner it was usually 50. It definitely wasn't expected as no one hung about waiting for a tip, but it felt like the right thing to do seen as we were so well taken care of. We tipped housekeeping 50 a day again as they always left our room looking lovely.

I had 2 massages with Norma and they were amazing. I had one outside in the gazebo and a hot stone and both times she did fantastic. The food amazing, the margaritas amazing, and the miami vices were amazing as well. Pool parties and aqua fit in the morning was so much fun. Beds a little uncomfortable but not bad and highly recommended the ocean view room it is breath taking.

Will start with the good-the place is beautiful, beach is small but clear water with white sand and calmer than other parts of Cancun. Our room was nicely laid out and the view was incredible. Grounds are nice. Loved the sun beds! The architecture is amazing. Drinks were good although no corona. Bar fridge fully stocked. 24 hour lounge and food is handy. Entertainment especially night time was really good with the nightly show and also entertainment before in lobby bar and the theatre. Almost always something going on to entertain you. Staff was mostly friendly and helpful and pleasant to be around. Location is good. Italian restaurant for lunch was incredible good and Japanese restaurant was good. There is a lot of good here. Now the Bad!! The maid left a blue cleaning cloth on top of my luggage which I dismissed because it could have just fallen off her shoulder or something but then later when looking for something in my suitcase which was open I found a small bag of garbage which was underneath a lot of my clothes??? never experienced anything like this before and could not dismiss that since it was buried. What bothered me even more is that I took it to management and they never got back to me even though they recognized the plastic in the garbage as something they use so I questioned a second time the next day and was again promised I would be notified as to what happened but they never did give me any explanation at all but they did send up a bottle or red wine which we don't drink on our 2nd last nite and said sorry for the inconvenience of housekeeping but no explanation and never talked with me at all. So we moved on but went to the RIU party they host -1st time was good and they shuttle you and drop you off at the hotel so very safe but the 2nd time we went was at night as opposed to the first day time one. Coming back we were the only ones on the bus and the driver dropped us at an unknown place-not the hotel saying his shift was done and we had to get off the bus and when my husband questioned how to get back to the hotel he pointed to an alley which we were very scared to use but had no choice-was not a safe venture or pleasant we were very scared. Our other problem was not as serious but with the restaurant's-mostly the steak house 2 really bad times out of 3. waited 45 mins to get in which was okay but then waited about 40 mins after that to get our food got no bread like everyone else and my husbands steak was so tough he could not eat it. Sauce came after our steak was done. Waited on our food which we saw sitting there till I finally asked nicely if she could get our food and then she did but previous to that she was just ignoring our waiting plates. We went back so my husband could have the fillet because mine was tender and our 2nd time was much better so we went back a 3rd time our last night and meal with anticipation of the 2nd time being good only to have it worse than the 1st time with uneatable steak, cold fries, had to ask for the sauce etc etc. Another night in Mexican we ordered Fajitas but the meat was so tough you could not chew and eat it. So all in all our supper experience was not good and I talked with people on the way home who stayed at just the RIU not the RIU palace who had no problem at all with food and so for the money paid and to have this much problem with the restaurant I felt a little cheated. We have stayed at other RIU's in Guanacaste and Puerto Vallarta and never experienced that kind of service and lack of quality. The steak house also is more like cafeteria style not the elegant steak house you usually see at a 5 star. One other lesser complaint is that I love playing Bingo and my husband plays with me and we did Bingo several times but they only give out one prize and it is to who they think Bingos 1st and that is okay because they announce only one winner the only problem is they don't always hear the correct person and I think they should pick a better way of deciding cut cards or something but this was annoying but not a deal breaker but kind of chinsey on the part of the resort. I have stayed at many RIU's but this was my first time at a RIU Palace and it did not live up to my expectations in some ways but the bus incident and the suitcase is something not likely to happen to others as far as the food incidents I did hear the same from others and feel it is something they need to address. I love Cancun, love the building, the people and other but there is definitely room for improvement in the restaurant area although breakfast and lunch are good, along with all the other good things I mentioned so might try again-not sure? Hopefully management would be more transparent and involved with incidents.

The resort was spotless. The staff couldn’t ‘t have been more attentive. Our goal for the week was relaxation in the sun, and that was exactly what we got. We ate in all the restaurants and were happy with all our meals. The entertainment staff entertained everybody at the pool each day. Every bartender was polite and friendly and recommended different drinks to our small group. Spent a lot of time at the pool and the wait staff at the pool area was great especially my daily server Wilbert, who never let me have an empty glass. Been to several resorts in Cancun, Riu Palace las Americas rates with the best of them.

We spend 6 days at this beautiful resort enjoying every day. The service was impeccable. We ate at the buffet and various restaurants. the steakhouse and "Crystal" being our favorites. During the day we went to the pools and the ocean, and after dinner, attended the bar and the shows. Everything was stress-free. We certainly would come back.

Every year this same week we do a Girls Weekend. This year we picked Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas. First and Upmost I want to say it is a Beautiful Resort! The staff is very friendly and very attentive if you are in need of something thats not already there. The whole Resort is spotless, the staff is constantly cleaning. The Beach is beautiful with lots of chairs, umbrellas and tables, we never had a problem finding a place to sit from the pool area or the beach. The Food is why I did not give the Resort 5 Stars. I guess I am being a food snob living and coming from New York but I found that all the restaurants except The Krystal Restaurant even though we did not need a reservation were just ok. We were told the menu only changes every 2 years, I would think being a Riu it would be constantly changing But No. The Buffet which you can have 3 times a day, was actuallyGreat with lots of options to choose from. If you are wondering about Drinks, they were all made with Top Shelf liquor and they even had frozen drinks and specials. I hope this review will help in some way.

This is my second visit to the RIU Palace Las Americas Cancun. I enjoyed the hotel so much I came back. This time things have changed but even better. The hotel is fabulous and superb location. The entertainment has also gone up a gear with live bands and RIU Party nights. The party nights have a dedicated space and themed such as the Pink Party , White Party and even a silent Disco such a good time. The food and service are of a very high standard. I hope to return as soon as I can

Beach was lovely. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The overall experience was great. We booked a catamaran tour to Isla Mujeres that was over the top, we had a wonderful day on the water and island. Only ate at the Italian, Steak House and buffet restaurants. All of the food was great and the presentation of it even better. House keeping did a few towel animals that were awesome! Do need to work on making sure refrigerators are restocked in the rooms. And wish that the entertainment didn't start so late at night (9:30 pm). Overall we would consider going back. Would have liked to see some animals on the resort.
