After more than two weeks of traveling around Mexico, me and my boyfriend came to Tulum and taxi driver took us to Papaya playa. We did not know anything about the place before, but we loved it for the first sight. For 520 pesos, which is in my oppinion absolutely fine price for the ocean front accomodation, you get a... more

We ended up to Papaya Playa randomly and it was great !!!! BUT to love it you got to like camping, because the cabanas are small and your clothes and bed are humid.... We had the cabanas without the bathroom/shower, there is a 30$ difference if you want it with the bathroom/shower, wich I don't think is worth it because... more

This was a great pick for our vacations in couple! The place had a gorgeous view on the Carribean Sea near the ruins of Tulum. Also because of is outstanding location, we had chance to visit over five great sites in only seven days of vacations. Chitchen Itzà, Coba, Valladolid, Muyil and obviously Tulum. Papaya Playa is tremendously peaceful! From... more

So, here's the thing. Sometimes when we are sitting in traffic or writing a Brief or trying to not be annoyed, we dream about being back at Papaya Playa. Oh those lounge swings on the beach. Oh those happy hour beverages. Oh the outdoor showers. Did I mention that the chairs at the bars are all swings? Papaya Playa is... more

Well, I read all of the horrible reviews and had some trepidation, but upon arriving to Papaya Playa after backpacking through Central America for three months it was seriously above par for ambiance and beauty. We payed about $30 dollars a night for a bungalow right on the beach and the views and surroundings were stunning! Seriously you are not... more

Since the last hurricaine they have not repaired the leeking roofs, which made sleeping often wretched. There is supossed to be a bar but it opens late every night and they NEVER have the right ingredients to make to drink you want -margaritas are bad. If they would put a little time and money back into the place and serve... more

After reading up on Trip Advisor about Papaya Playa before we left for Mexico my boyfriend and I were a little worried that we would be arriving at a complete dump. If you've been to South East Asia and have stayed in beach huts this is basically the same thing and was actually what I was hoping for. The service... more

My friend and I stayed at Papaya for several days and were not only horrified by the pitiful standard of cleanliness, but found the owner, Sergio to be a total sex pest. He persistently harrassed us and we also noticed that he was doing the same with other female guests. The beautiful surroundings compensated us to a degree. However, we... more

Here's the skinny on Papaya Playa and the cabana scene in general as we saw it. If you're up for rustic, camping style cabanas with a gorgeous beach and don't want to pay more than $50/night in the high season, then Pplaya is a good place; just remember, you pay for what you get and there are some things you... more
