Doña Simeona, the 80+ owner of the hotel lives on the property, and it shows. She also cooks, and if you speak Spanish she can tell you recipes in great detail.

The place is clean, bright, and has a lovely garden with a swimming pool. It's about a 20 min walk to Chichén in the otherwise uninteresting town of Piste. The reason to stay here is that you can get to Chichén early enough to avoid the masses who come on bus from all corners of the Yucatan. Also, she cooks a great meal and they have wireless internet that reaches the rooms.

Disadvantages: the rooms are a bit small and don't have screens. I wish they had a hammock in the garden, but that's just me. They do have aircon, and it's nice to stay in a pleasant place with character. Good beds too. It's also relatively cheap: 770 pesos. more
