My husband and I stayed here for our Honeymoon! The location of this hotel is wonderful, not only are you already on an island but if you stay at this place it is located at the very northern point of Isla Mujeres, so it's like an island of its very own. The rooms were pretty basic but very clean, the... more

I chose this placy really because I found a deal on expedia but my next trip to Isla I will definately stay somewhere else. The place is straange- theenergy was weird when we arrived maybe becuase people were complaining at the desk. I tried to ignore it but there was an awful smell in the hotel. Thankfully it didn't come... more

Our trip was a full week - my first visit to Mexico. My husband had been to Isla Mujeres as a college graduate beach bum and was still pleased at what he saw 35 years later. We didn't read any reviews before we left - our trip was booked by our travel agent with whom we've just begun working. To... more

I have never experienced such a horrible time in Mexico before. I used to live in Mexico and I have travelled all throughout the country and never been treated so rudely by the hotel staff for 7 days in a row, for no absolute reason. This was 7 days of pure torture by the hotel staff and the run down... more

I will admit it, I was wary about staying here after reading some of the reviews here. But, I was very happy with week long stay on Isla Mujere's and the Avalon Reef Club. Not knowing about any type of hotel transport service, we took a ferry and a taxi to the hotel. Upon our arrival we were prompty greeted... more

Overall, a very good value for getting away to such a beautiful and relaxing spot. It has everything you *need* but don't expect any frills. If you are coming to experience the beach, water, sun, some culture, it is a great place to stay. If you are coming to be pampered and experience luxury, Cancun is a better bet. Service:... more

I overheard a guy attempting to sell a time share for the Avalon say, "This is a 5-star location but the hotel isn't 5-star." And that is about right. I would go back in a minute to wake up every morning to the waves crashing onto the reef below my room. The room, itself, well there were problems. I had... more

After reading the reviews on here, we almost chose to stay at one of the Royal Resorts in Cancun instead. The location of this place ultimately convinced us to come anyways and I am extremely happy that we did. We used the transportation service from the airport to the ferry provided by the resort for $26 pp roundtrip and it... more

Stayed here Aug 08' for 7 nights in the villa on the very tip of the island. I have traveled many times to Mexico, DR, Belize, Jamaica, etc. The Honest Opinion Hotel shows it's age. Things are a little run down. Food, not that great, except breakfast. (The AI is not that much more, worth paying for the convience)-PS I... more

Having first seen the Avalon Reef Club on a visit to Isla Mujeres in 1966, and then spending the day on the beach there in 2004, I was looking forward to spending a week at the facility from March 28-April 4, 2009. I tried to keep my expectations rather low since the hotel is over 40 years old and is... more
