First - don't do the all-inclusive meal plan. Get the breakfast buffet but that's it. Go to town to have amazing meals at cheap prices. It's a short walk to Hidalgo Street for lunch/dinner. Good stuff: - Location is beautiful, - All employees from maids, bartenders, waiters and front desk were wonderful and friendly, EXCEPT FOR TIME-SHARE SHARKS. We stayed at the Avalon for 8 days and there isn't a more wonderful location on the whole island. The views were breathtaking and the constant sound ofthe surf lulled us to sleep every night. The grounds are nice, the staff is helpful and we loved being isolated by the bridge and yet just a short walk to the center... more

This place was exactly what we were looking for! You can't beat the location of the resort...Breathtaking! The beach is not huge, but smaller and quaint, felt like out own resort. Good things: Free breakfast, pleasant staff, walking distance to town, location. Not so good things: No reading lights by bed or desk, lovely but shallow beach has numerous stingrays and 5 people were stung in the week that we stayed there.
