I can't really complain about the hotel - it is pretty much what you would expect from a 4/5 star hotel such as this. However, Merida is a lovely old colonial town with gorgeous boutique hotels everywhere and I was so disappointed to not stay in one of those. If you loose your US passport while in the Yucatan this is the place to stay! The US Consulate is just a block away. We were pleasantly surprised at this beautiful hotel. There were tens of fleas on the sheets and pillows. The management was extremely helpful and polite. They sent us to another room, and another room, and yet another room, only to find that fleas were a common problem of the entire hotel. We finally decided to stay in the room that seemed to have the least number of fleas.... more
