We found this hotel a bit by accident looking for accomodation after arriving very late in town. The hotel staff were very helpful assisting us with parking (which can be a bit of an issue down town) and speeding our registration so we could catch some dinner and rest. Received a recommendation from local and wasn't disappointed. We always ask to see a room before we book - we had a great room on the square with a balcony. Good beds, nice and clean, air conditioning. Hotel built in 1910 but has been remodeled. Very charming - close to all the sights downtown. Give it a try!!! more

The room itself was nice, but our credit card number was somehow stolen from the hotel (we didn't lose the actual card), and $1900 USD was charged before we discovered it. Other incidents in Merida cause us to label the city "the worst city we have ever visited". I wish we had never ventured out from Cancun.....tourist beware. more

Was lucky to find The Gran Hotel in Merida. Built in 1901, but renovated not too many years ago, so it remains in remarkably good shape & is a wonderful colonial & architectural jewel.
