Wow--it's now July 2007, I stayed here last December and January (two different visits) and I'm thinking of coming back next spring and out of curiosity read some reviews. Boy, I'm glad I didn't see those ridiculous negative reviews from some out-of-sorts travelers earlier in 2006. They might have scared me away. IGNORE THEM! . . . The owner is... more

We spent five nights in Cas Mexilio and it was pure happiness. The house is an amazing gem, decorated with an incredible taste. We stayed across the street, where there are two independent bedrooms. It was quiet and we enjoyed a lovely garden. The breakfast is divine and the staff very effective and polite. The owner has been a great... more

I stayed at Casa Mexilio in November, and was surprised to see so many negative reviews since. While it is true that the staff is not always super helpful, let us remind ourselves that English is a foreign language for most of them. As for the owner, while certainly being eccentric, he does a good job at providing a beautiful,... more

This is a couple of beautiful old Merida homes joined together to create a B and B. Our bed was comfortable, the staff was helpful and interesting. The gardens are fabulous. Our room was very spacious, with 2 bathrooms, a bed upstairs and one down. There was good air conditioning as well as a fan to keep the room cool... more

After reading the review for this hotel I was a bit nervous about my 2 night stay. But once I arrived at Casa Mexilio all my worries went away. The hotel is very ornate and old world feeling. The house has many levels and beautiful outside terraces to explore. Our room was very quaint with antique furniture and comes with... more

This is a beautiful place, and yes, the owner is very odd. But in response to a post criricizing the owner for not recommending a place to eat, I must say that there are no good restaurants in central Merida. Villa Maria, two doors down, is overpriced, pretentious and the food is terrible. The restaurants recommended by guide books are... more

This place's web site is a perfect example of false advertising. My husband and I booked the alleged "penthouse" which is a complete misnomer. Rustic would even be too generous of a description for that room. It was barren and had a pathetic air conditioner which we were told we could not keep on during any absence from the room... more

Pictures looked gorgeous on the website but the property was dusty, creepy, and extremely unfriendly. The person in charge Jorge made the entire stay there very unpleasant. When we tried to ask him how to get to the airport, he scolded us for bothering him. Worst service I have ever had. more

This lovely and charming B&B in Merida is a combination of A Secret Garden, Swiss Family Robinson, and the Harry Potter series. The rooms, bar, and pool are sited around nooks and crannies, across bridges, on rooftops, under pergolas, all camoflaged with large banana trees, vines, and a variety of potted plants. The effect is magical, private and delightful. Due... more

I have traveled extensively in Mexico and I have never encountered such an unfriendly hotel. Instead of asking to turn off the lights when leaving the rooms, there is a sign treating to fine the guests if they don't comply. When we asked the employee whether it would be possible to get something to eat or take out before the... more
