we were met at the bus station by a very friendly man named Raul, who owned the hostel. he took us to the hostel and we were happy to find that it reminded us of new orleans guest houses with old shutters, a large courtyard, and well ventilated rooms. It had a wonderful location near most locations in town. more

We stayed one night at the Nameless Place in Merida. It is quite a typical backpacker´s place. You can get a cheap bed in the dorm (50 Pesos), sanitary facilities are ok and security is good (security camaras and lockers). After a month of travelling in the Yucatan, this was the poorest hostel we stayed at. It did have a good location and the requisite number of beds per room, but the rooms were poorly cleaned, the shower did not drain (at ALL - water and old hair was spilling onto the floor), and the general atmosphere was eerily deserted.... more
