Ellyne's bed and breakfast felt like a vacation spot inside of another vacation spot, Merida. It is like a fancy little hotel set up like a B&B. Sitting by the pool (loved those beer keg bottom stools in the pool!) reading in the hammock, taking a siesta to get away from the heat was so nice with the sound of... more

This is a true oasis in the desert located in the historic district of Merida. We visited Merida in April when the temperatures climbed to 108 degrees. The soothing sound of the waterfalls and the always cool water of the pool were exactly what we needed after walking and touring the wonderful sights of Merida. The service was perfect and... more

Who needs Cancun or these overhyped overpriced resorts...this was the best place ever...The attention to detail by Ellyen and her staff is unsurpassed we have travelled far and wide throughout the world but in Merida we found ourselves enjoying life with the town folks. From stolling through Merida to dancing in the Plaza Central. We had an amazing time. The... more

We stayed just one night at Cascadas as part of a rather brief visit to this part of the Yucatan. The location, while a good walk from the center, is a real respite from the noise and heat. Miguel, who was managing the place while the owner was away, was welcoming, helpful and hospitable. The small plunge pool was very... more

Before I get to Cascadas de Merida let me say that no-one should consider postponing a trip to Yucatan because of the publicity regarding drug cartel wars and swine flu. Merida is peaceful and safe and 2,000 miles from the violence in the border towns. You wouldn't cancel a trip to Boston because of the crime rate in New Orleans,... more

My 91 year-old grandfather and I have just returned from our stay at Cascadas de Merida. We could not have picked a better B&B. Its location is great to explore Merida. My grandfather & I walked every day, each evening we walked to delightful restaurants and cultural events. I found the service exceptional! My grandfather and I both have traveled... more

We (family of 5) stayed at Cascadas for 2 nights (04/16-04/18) and loved everything about it. The rooms were spotless, tastefully decorated and the shower is amazing. We all enjoyed taking a dip in the pool after a long hot day. The breakfast was delicious and had plenty to choose from. The property is located within walking distance to many... more

We spent a week exploring the Yucatan including three nights in Merida at Cascadas. What a delight! Room was immaculate, breakfast was wonderful, best coffee I have had in Mexico, and the pool was wonderful to come back to in the afternoon. Best of all was the help offered by Ellyne in planning excursions and restaurants. Great location in the... more

This was our 4th stay at CdeM and it was, as always, a wonderful visit. The property has to be seen to really appreciate the special touches - the murals on the walls, the textiles used to decorate, the waterfall by the pool, the shower that's open to a private courtyard. It's a treat to the senses. And the beds... more

What is not to like about this dear little B&B? Everything is first class! ...the roomwas squeaky clean and tastefully decorated... the breakfast was like an Amish threshers breakfast with more food that you could imagine (if you went away from this table feeling hungry, you had only yourself to blame!)...Ellyne arranged day trips for us, gave us tips on... more
