We stayed at Shangri-la Caribe in the past and loved it. After the change in ownership, things seem different. Like maybe they're simply trying to cash flow until they can raze the grounds and replace the stick huts with a massive condo development. Rumours abound. more

My wife and I looked all over mexico for a vacation and were lucky enough to book at Mahekal! Check in was a little confusing but no big deal. We stayed in the pueblito section upstairs and loved it! Staff were very courteous and helpful. The beach and the pools were great and the rooms very peaceful. The bathroom could do with updating but it was not a problem. Will be going back. more

This was our fourth stay. They are steadily making improvements on the grounds of the Hotel. Sidewalks have been re-done, sandy paths are not so sandy anymore and easier to walk.
