This was our 2nd time vacationing in Playa, and everything that was lacking on our first trip was more than redeemed on this trip (last year we stayed at El Dorado Seaside Suites and really liked it, except for the food). Unfortunately we traded all the good stuff from the first resort this time around, so I guess you have... more

This is the RIU resort to stay at if you are coming to Playa del Carmen. Gorgeous, immaculate resort grounds, friendly helpful staff, nice cosy beach areas, and the restaurants were really above average for an all-inclusive resort. The resort is located inside an upscale gated community with golf course, resorts and condos. "Downtown" Playa del Carmen is just a... more

Hola everyone! My wife and I have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Riu Palace Mexico. Just to give this review some context, we are from England and would call ourselves seasoned travellers - both in our mid 30’s, we have travelled extensively as a couple all over the world. First impressions as we pulled up outside... more

We have just returned from the Riu Palace Mexico and had an Excellent time. We cannot believe all the negative statements that have been written about this hotel. We stayed for 14 nights and arrived home on the 5th May. Below you will find our experience. Hotel - Fantastic, clean, light, plenty of room. Staff - More than helpful, happy... more

Myself and two friends spent 6 nights at the Riu Palace. Overall, we had a wonderful time. We thought the hotel was beautiful and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. We requested a roll-away and an extra chair for our patio and they arrived very promptly. Even with the roll-away, we did not feel cramped in the room at... more

We stayed 6 nights at the RIU palace. It was an extremely pleasent experience. We had read reviews and were a bit worried about the hotel. I guess a place is kinda what you make it. Upon check in we requested egg shell toppers for the hard beds. Television reception was not the best. Hot tub only warm Only negatives!... more

I have just arrived form Riu Palace Mexico, and I can wait to share my experience with others. I would like to begin by telling you about their horrible service. On the night of our arrival, our sheets were not changed form the previous occupants of our room. The next day, I called to complaint about spoiled sheets. On our... more

This was a very beautiful huge hotel with several restaurants to choose from (if you get up early enough to get in line for a reservation). A good way to describe this hotel is it's like having 2 cruise ships parked on the beach side by side. There were so many people! If you enjoy European people, Speedos and topless... more

My husband and I are just back from a magical week at Riu Palace Mexico. We had our wedding there and 40 of our family/friends attended. The communication with the wedding coordinators' manager was very difficult prior to getting there and I was getting really nervous. My most ordinary requests, despite the fact that I was willing to pay for... more

This was our 3 trip to Playa in the last year. Our other 2 experiences at another hotel chain were absolutely perfect. We found the Riu to be a total disappointment. Other than the restaurant staff, we found the whole experience anything but a pleasure: very unhelpful front desk, watered down drinks, over an hour wait for dinner reservations, hard... more
