My family and I were not treated politely by a gentlmen in reception when we arrived. It is very uncomfortable to fly cross country with small children and arrive at a "first class" resort tired, hungry, and be denied the rooms that were booked. I can probably deal with the fact that the rooms are not available, if it is... more

Overall, a very nice resort. We traveled with 2 small children, ages 4 and 6. The rooms and physical facilities were beautiful, some of the nicest we have stayed in. They were spacious and very tastefully decorated. The Kids Center was outstanding. The hotel has a corporate focus. There were pros and cons to this. It seemed very quiet most... more

We just stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba last week. How they received a AAA Five Diamond award is beyond comprehension. First, the front desk staff is disorganized and definitely not customer service oriented. Our room was not ready even after the official check-in time of 3:00 pm. They actually gave us a tacky beeper that would buzz us when the... more

We traveled to the Fairmount Mayakoba for a medical conference with our 8 month old son, we're big Four Seasons fans and the Fairmount Mayakoba came very close to meeting these high standards. First off, this is a BIG property that caters to conferences, there are also a fair number of young families with smaller children (mainly babies)...so not a... more

We were at Fairmont Mayakoba from April 1-6, 2008. The hotel is full of "dollar vultures" and crooks. Do not trust anyone at the hotel. We were charged for things that we did not use -- valet parking. Our hotel room was fully paid for via Apple Tours but they still levied charges adding up to hundreds of dollars in... more

We are a married couple who belong to the Fairmont frequent guest program, but we paid for our room at Mayakoba. We stayed in a casita suite (Room 802) with a private rooftop pool and butler. Mauricio was the most wonderful, intuitive and gracious assistant! You must ask for him! Every idea we had was immediately arranged by him. He... more

Our experience was really great. The Mayakoba was amazing for a family with kids! I definitely think the accommodation we had --Signature Casita's with the Royal Service (private butler) in the Playa area--are worth it and the way to go. Mariana--our butler--followed us around and made reservations for all meals and tours. She was excellent. It was really convenient. We... more

Fabulous resort. It is very large and rooms are a distance from the water but bikes or carts are available for transport. We loved taking the bikes all over. Service was superb, rooms very nice, our balcony looked out onto lush landscape with birds singing constantly- very serene. Good swimming beach, fantastic pool/restaurant besides beach. Food/margaritas were very tasty &... more

Just about everything about this hotel was perfect. It would have been a "5" except that our connecting casita rooms had a musty, earthy smell. The casitas are well appointed and very comfortable for a family of 2 adults and 3 children. But one of the two casitas we had, had poor HVAC and, given that the rooms were basically... more
