The Boca Piala camps are located on a beautiful, clean beach with turqoise water and no crowds. Run by the CESIAK tour company, they are located within the Sian Ka'an reserve about a 20 minute drive from the center of Tulum. The accomodations consist of private "tent" units that are elevated on large wooden porches. Though the tent was simple... more

We have been to Boca Paila Fishing Lodge about 4 times prior to this for day fishing, however this was our first time to spend the night there. It is for flats fishing, bonefish, permit, snook, and tarpon. Some there did a grand slam while we were there. My husband caught 9 bonefish in 2 days flyfishing, and had a... more

Just got back from a wonderful week in Boca Paila. The food was wonderful and fishing was great. I had four days running to get a Grand Slam and one day at a Super Grand Slam. Mario was a wonderful guide. This was second year to go and this year was better than last year. It was worth every cent... more

My friend and I we attending a wedding at Tulum and decided we would try to go fishing for bone fish. We drove the rough road to the lodge, in a rental van, and just showed up without a reservation. They said they could take us out after lunch, which was excellent. Our guide taught us the fine points of... more

Traveled to Boca Paila this past April. Idylic, 20-person lodge (very comfortable rooms with AC, but not deluxe; great food) located on pristine, deserted beach far far away from the crowds of Cancun. No other lodges or hotels w/in a mile in either directrion. Have been to Bahamas 4 times fly fishing for bonefish, but never Yucatan. Caught several dozen... more

Advertised as "the place" for the Grand Slam of fly-fishing - Can't be true. As an experience salt water fisherman with 15 years on the flats, I focused on Permit and Tarpon. Saw one Tarpon, lots of Permit and tons of TINY Bones. Caught no Permit or Tarpon.....our experienced group of six anglers fishing 4 full sunny days caught zero... more

I took a group of 14 to Boca Paila the week of August 11th. This trip was sold through frontiers for a steep discount one year ago. My employees loved it. While the fishing was not as good as on season, we caught more than enough bones, permit and jacks. Very little tarpon nor did most of the guides seem... more

If you are a novice with a spinning rod or world class fly fishing expert this place has it all. Teriffic personable guides know enough English to put you on the fish and get you hooked up with plenty of them. Bonefish, permit and tarpon are plentiful and are eager to take a fly with the guides quiet poling and... more
