We had heard about Cabanas Copal from a friend and it sounded amazing. And it was...kind of. We knew there would be no electricity which didn't bother us at the time of booking (i.e no air conditioning and it did get VERY hot). We had number 14 and it was a great spot. The huts were rustic and actually kind... more

We stayed in the Casita which is sat perched on it's own rock above the sea (not as scary as it sounds) - definitely the best option for accomodation within Cabanas Copal as it feels really secluded - the other cabanas are just around the corner and you walk through these to get down to the beach. There is a... more

I am a beach person who loves long romantic walks, great vistas and fresh swimmable water. I've been to many of the worlds most beautiful and natural beaches. Not only in the US, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, but also in Europe and the exotic beaches of Thailand, Bali, Central America and India. With over fifty beach experiences and many... more

We stayed in one of the cheaper cabanas at Copal, and found it charming, but far too rustic. It's a bit like camping, because there's no electricity and no solid walls. This means that biting bugs are a real problem, and despite the mosquito net over the bed, and anti-mossie coil, and Deet, you will get bitten. We only stayed... more

We thought of Tulum as long, white silky sand beaches: we love long walks at the beach. Yet, at Cabanas Copal there are rocks at the beach, so need to walks a 100 mts aside to have a nice swim and walking at the beach is sort of frustrating because after 500mts there are heavy rocks you just have to... more

We had one of the oceanfront huts. It was windy but beautiful. A large hermit crab joined us for one night. The town is great and the people are wonderful. What more could you want? We will be back. more

We stayed in the oceanfront cabana #22 in connection with an intimacy retreat group trip. The property is stunning, simple, and RIGHT ON THE OCEAN. It was wonderful to have our own standalone cabin with privacy, with the theraputic swish of ocean waves just outside 24/7. The cabins have full plumbing, but no electricity although the staff leaves ample large... more

We arrived on Saturday for our honey moon expecting rustic, romantic - well it was definately rustic, to say the least. But it was awesome. Yes, there were mosquitos, yes there are no conventional walls so ofcourse there are gonna be cute little lizards on the cieling but if you have an ounce of common sense, you'll be expecting this.... more

The service was very good, everyone very polite. Although the food is good, there´s not much variety at the restaurant (if you want to eat there all your stay), and it´s a bit expensive. The room the nicest view of the sea and it wasn´t very warm at all, but.... it needs painting and maintenance in small details, such as... more

As an avid traveler, and devoted tripadvisor researcher, you must be careful about the negative comments you read, such as the one below. My group and I had the pleasure to experience Cabanas Copal on June 13, 2009, for our Mayan Cosmic Wedding Ceremony, reception, and leisure. Everything about this hidden gem is amazing. I'm a very shrewd consumer, enjoy... more
