My wife and I were unable to travel to Tulum after we found out she had to have emergency surgery the same day we were going to fly from Austin. Under the circumstances, Carlos agreed to let us reschedule with our original deposit. We appreciate it very much and thank Carlos very much. more

My wife and I spent 5 nights at Tierras del Sol in April of this year. This was our second visit to the property after an outstanding stay last November. We spent 2 nights in Alta Mar (outstanding 2nd story cabana) and then three wonderful nights in the beach-front cabana with the palm trees growing out of the deck. Both... more

I disagree with the comment below. I stayed there with my fiance and we didnt see any other guests there since it was the slow season in early August. It was dark out when we arrived and Carlos promptly showed us to our room which was down a sandy walkway, lit by a beautiful full moon, leading to the ever-increasing... more

We stayed at TDS in November '07 but haven't written a review before now as there seemed to be nothing new to say, but with recent posts, I'd like to add a comment or two. I agree that this spot is perfect if you want to "get away from it all". The beach is wonderful; quiet, endless and practically deserted.... more

My wife and I stayed at Tierras del Sol March 20th -27th, 2008 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. After researching online we settled on Tulum and decided to stay at TDS. From the beginning Carlos was great, promptly returning emails and answering all questions. The first two nights we enjoyed the lovely ocean view cabana, Vilkabamba. We then moved forward... more

My wife, two children, and I just spent an incredibly delightful week at Tierras del Sol with Carlos, his wife, and baby, and had a fantastic time. There are very few units. If you can, book the ocean front bungalows we had. It is as if you are on an island, the sound of the surf puts you to sleep... more

We stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfriend in july.It was a really unforgettable experience. We booked the garden cabana first.Everything seemed fine,we came to our cabana, wandered around, then we opened the mosquito nest above the bed,and an enormous black scorpion fell on the pillow. After twenty minutues of running around,we finally got rid of it.We told about it to Carlos,and... more

We did not actually stay at the hotel. We were attracted to Tierras del Sol and via e-mail directly with Carlos Esteban Sastre, we were told that we could have our requested "on the beach " bungalow for the days we wished. After I replied immediately to accept this offer, I was told "sorry," we could have only an "ocean... more
