DO NOT STAY HERE. I'm convinced all the wonderful reviews on this site for Posada Lamar are written by the owners themselves, or something has changed between when they were written and we visited last week (mid-November 2007). I will say - the location is gorgeous, but you can't really credit the hotel with creating the beautiful beaches of Tulum.... more

I found this bungalow on trip advisor, and it was exactly like I hoped it would be....the bungalow and all the others ( there are only 6) are really cute, and well taken care of, you cant go wrong with any of them, there are a couple that are right in front on the beach, and a little more, but... more

Friendly and welcoming hosts, clean amenities, quiet beach, convenient location, beautiful views, and only one small insect in several days. As a returning traveler to Tulum, I hold Posada Lamar in the highest regard. My fiance and I stayed in Bungalow Rubi, and wouldn't have traded it for any other on the beach. It was by far the most private... more

We are a couple from Norway just fall over this beatiful place when we had a roadtrip from Playa Carmen one day. We stayed at Bungalow Esmeralda and we loved it. Great staff, beatiful quiet beach. Romantic surroundings for a couple- We will come back! And the Italian restaurant nearby was outstanding. Hege & Morten more

My new wife and I spent three nights Posada Lamar as the second half of a honeymoon that started on Isla Mujeres and was to end up in Tulum. We were not disappointed. Though Tulum pueblo is itself rather touristy with shops and restaurants that diminish the native Mexico feeling of the place, the ocean-side cabanas are in a separate... more

My friend and I consulted trip advisor to plan our accomodation, and chose Posada Lamar based on the great reviews--to which I will add--with a few small caveats: 1. There are two rooms with two double beds, one upstairs, one downstairs---we stayed in both. They were both beautiful, very clean rooms, but the downstairs had ventilation issues and needs a... more

We stayed in room Ambar for two unbearably hot, buggy nights last week. The room is pretty but set back from beach. Impossible to sleep -- there are no screens on the windows, and of course, no A/C. If you closed the mosquito curtain, you roasted, especially on the synthetic sheets. If you opened the curtain, you were eaten alive.... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Posada Lamar for six nights this May and did not want to leave! We stayed in the cabana named Rubi which is right on the ocean. It was beautiful. The beach is spectacular, the owners/mgmt was so curtious, and the cabana was PERFECT. You have electricity during the night hours but not during the... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Posada Lamar in the Rubi bungalow in mid-feb. After a harrowing experience getting to Mexico from NYC (we were on one of the Jetblue flights that sat on the JFK runway for over 8 hours) the quiet and beauty of Tulum was just what we needed. I loved the design of the bungalows and... more

Posada Lamar is possibly the best place for the money in Tulum. The beach is lovely. The service is great. The rooms are gorgeous. I wouldn't go with someone I was shy with however. The bathrooms aren't very private. I highly recommend this Posada Lamar for beauty and relaxation. more
