Absolutely IMO the best place to stay on Tulum beach, especially if you like value for money. I stayed in the nicest beachfront bungalow, Bungalow Zafiro, for 2 nights (not long enough!) in May 2011 and paid the reasonable low season price of $135/night. posada lamar is fantastic. as my husband and i walked up and down the beach, we saw many places we knew we would enjoy... but we just kept saying "wow, we really nailed it!" we stayed in the esmerelda, which is the cheapest option, but we were so happy with our experience. highly recommended. More

Our family stayed at Posada Lamar a few days right before Christmas and appreciated this place very much. If you have children between 2 and 5, note that the mezzanine cabanas require some blocking of the staircase with kids sleeping downstairs to be safe. The other cabanas may be preferable for such age group for several kids of that age... More

the Posada Lamar was what we were looking for. Eco-friendly, on the beach, no television, no phone, just the breeze, the ocean, the sea turtles at night, coffee in the morning, and a 5 minute ride to Tulum Ruins. This will become a yearly trek for us. More
