Posada lamar is the best place to stay for the beautiful simplicity of the place, the money and in general for the way the staff receives you and really makes you feel at home. Tonio, and all the girls/guys working there welcomed us in the best way possible after having had a bad experience at a far more expensive place... More

Absolutely IMO the best place to stay on Tulum beach, especially if you like value for money. I stayed in the nicest beachfront bungalow, Bungalow Zafiro, for 2 nights (not long enough!) in May 2011 and paid the reasonable low season price of $135/night. There are probably nicer and more luxurious accommodations on the beach, but you will pay upwards... More

At first we were planning to book Coco Tulum Hotel which is just next to Pasada Lamar but there the plave was sold out for requested dates and PL became our next option. Which is only for the best! The place is highly recommended - I am mostly sure that value for the price is the best among competitors -... More

We stayed at Posada Lamar for a week in January, in 'Marfil' suite, which was great. The highlights were the great breakfast, which is included in the price and delivered to your balcony, the sound of the waves crashing only a few meters away, and the romantic rooms themselves, which were charming and a bit rustic (in good way). Everyone... More

Having arrived after sunset in Tulum, no reservation made, we just went from hotel to hotel in Tulum Playa asking for accomodation. After about 15 hotels, either too expensive (over 200 USD) or full (it was 26th dec!) we finally arrived at the Posada Lamar. I think the lady took pity and gave us the best Palapa on the beach... posada lamar is fantastic. as my husband and i walked up and down the beach, we saw many places we knew we would enjoy... but we just kept saying "wow, we really nailed it!" we stayed in the esmerelda, which is the cheapest option, but we were so happy with our experience. highly recommended. More

One word - paradise! This hotel is a set of bungalows on the beachfront. The bungalows at Posada Lamar are eco lodge ‘Palapas’ which is a coconut frond thatched beach hut sat on stilts. Fall asleep to the sound of the breeze and waves. Enjoy a beautiful breafast of fresh fruits, yoghurt and toasts (ordered the day before) on the... More

Our family stayed at Posada Lamar a few days right before Christmas and appreciated this place very much. If you have children between 2 and 5, note that the mezzanine cabanas require some blocking of the staircase with kids sleeping downstairs to be safe. The other cabanas may be preferable for such age group for several kids of that age... More

Stay at the Posada Lamar in the Saphira room. It's beach front with a balcony and hammock. Absolutely paradise. I also stayed in another room for a few nights that wasn't beach front. It seemed expensive and dark. Also: beware of the coffee. I admit to being a coffee snob, but this stuff was truly horrid. Last but not least:... More

the Posada Lamar was what we were looking for. Eco-friendly, on the beach, no television, no phone, just the breeze, the ocean, the sea turtles at night, coffee in the morning, and a 5 minute ride to Tulum Ruins. This will become a yearly trek for us. More
