Balneario San Ramón is a recently updated motel-style lodging on the right-hand side of the road heading south from Dolores Hidalgo toward Querétaro. It is just a couple miles north of San Miguel de Allende in the countryside, so it is a nice quiet place to stay while taking in all the sites along Mexico´s Independence trail. They have a big sign on the main road in front of their long, gravel driveway. Not hard to find.

Our room was immaculately clean, although the new mattress was hard (as they usually are in moderately priced mexican hotels). The shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The swimming pool was clean and refreshing. They offer a traditional mexican breakfast, though the cost is not included in the price of the room, and they have picnic tables as well as an area to camp. The young couple that run the hotel speak English, too. more
