I went 8 months pregnant with my husband and I just can say it was amazing, the hotel is not to big, midern, clean. Really unique. The spa is excellent, the service was great and the restaurant is pretty hood too. The rooms have a lot of space, the bathroom as well, the bathtub was big enough for two and... More

We came back to Hotel Matilda just for one day to celebrate my wifes birthday. We think it´s maybe the best place to stay in San Miguel Allende. This time we got a suite and it was downstairs.... what we did not like so much. But in the end the room was sunny and stylish and the service was excellent,... More

We really appreciated the time you took to shoot a video and post it on YouTube for others to enjoy. It’s difficult to capture the spirit of Matilda in just one photo – there’s so much to experience, from the art to the ambience. Of course, Matilda is never static; since the art is always changing, there’s always something new... More

The Hotel Matilda gave a sparkling head start to a Calle Ocho fiesta on April 26th. From the minute we arrived pretty young ladies with Cuban hats were quick to hand us delicious Mojitos, chocked with fresh mint and not too sugary. The entry to the hotel was highlighted with neon palm trees and pink flamingos made the fountain so... More

Dear Sharita: We’re so glad you enjoyed our Calle Ocho fiesta!! We plan many events throughout the year – where gourmet cuisine is paired with upbeat music and exciting art and artists. It’s all part of the Matilda Lifestyle, which is building quite a buzz with the foodie crowd. Check out the SMART festival planned for May 31-June 2. And... More

I spend a long weekend in Matilda. And it was perfect, the staff was very friendly and the restaurant is very good, now I know why Chef Olvera is one of the best in Mexico. Very good location just a couple blocks from the main square. Everything was perfect and is exactly what I specked from a luxury boutique hotel.... More

I have just returned from a weekend visit to San Miguel de Allende. I have been to San Miguel numerous times before, and was looking forward to my first stay at Matilda. Unfortunately, our visit began with an unpleasant dining experience Friday night. We were seated outdoors right next to a group of about 20 people celebrating with their own... More

We were extremely sorry to hear that you weren’t 100% pleased with your recent visit. As you noted, our enthusiastic staff works hard to assure that every guest has a wonderful stay. Fortunately, most do – in fact, just this month U.S. News & World Report named Hotel Matilda to their first-ever list of the “Best Hotels in Mexico.” We... More

Dear Lytzia: Many frequent visitors to San Miguel are quite surprised to discover Hotel Matilda – certainly, we aren’t a traditional property. In fact, we quite enjoy being a singular oasis of contemporary charm in a colonial city. Afterall, unexpected discoveries are one of travel’s greatest joys. Behind this wall is a gem of art, architecture and a relaxing ambiance. The entire staff went out of their way to assist in any way possible. Their English was better than my Spanish. The Matilda is lovely, but the food we had last night never rose above the level of mediocrity. Given the prices, we expected more. The agnolotti pasta was especially disappointing. I was told that the chef was new. "Even worse than the last guy," a local foodie told me.

Dear Guest: Given the many accolades that our restaurant and cuisine have received over the last several months, we found your review quite surprising.
