After reading all the positive reviews of the Delfin Hotel, we stayed there at first, but after 2 sleepless nights, we looked around Barra and found this gem. It is about 3 short blocks from the main downtown area, but only a block to the beach. It is less expensive, has air conditioning, and is just nicer for less money than the Delfin. And way quieter, with better parking, if you have a car. We stayed 4 nights and were completely satisfied. The owner was very hospitable and helpful. As Barra is small, anywhere in Barra proper is less than a 5 minute walk to anywhere else in town. We were there Dec 5-9th and the town was uncrowded. We can't wait to return to Barra and will definitely stay in this hotel next time.
We recommend 2 restaurants: Manglito's(have their shrimp's Manglito style), and Alcatraz Bay( a little pricier but worth it-best Margarita's we've ever had.)
For a place to hang out and have a beer, go to Rocktavio's-Octavio, the owner/bartender is real cool.
