We visited to celebrate a birthday on Monday night & we were very disappointed with the service. Our table wasn’t set up for the number of people (we’d booked in advance), the staff had to get another chair from somewhere. It took ages for our drinks order to be taken and then again for our food order to be taken. The menu was disappointing & not what is on the website, so this needs updating to avoid others been disappointed like we were. The menu is mainly overpriced pub grub. The jukebox burger isn’t well presented & could do with some salad rather than just serving it with chips. We ordered more drinks & the female staff member plonked my wine on the table, I’m surprised the stem on the glass didn’t break. We ordered 3 desserts & they took ages to arrive & when they did the staff member stated they’d taken a while to arrive as the meringue is made to order. This isn’t our first visit to the Black Horse. We’ve visited many times over the years & have always had a pleasant experience but last night was very different. The menu choice is disappointing & overpriced, the front of house staff need to improve on their customer service & look like they want to be at work. We won’t be in a hurry to return, which is a shame as we’ve always rated it really highly & it’s always one of our first choices to visit for a meal.

We stopped off at The Black Horse Inn on the last leg of our motor home trip back from Scotland. It is located close to the A1 and easily accessible for large vehicles. The beer was spot on, food was nice and the atmosphere in the pub was relaxing but also lively. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The motor home stop over was free and included Electric hook, it was very peaceful and we had a lovely night. I would highly recommend this place and we’ll definitely be stopping again when passing.

Wow, what a disappointment :(. We visited The Black Horse in September 2023 while we were honeymooning in the area. We absolutely adored our first meal there so much we ended up going every night for our 2 week trip! Visited again in Feb 2024 and our experience couldn’t be as further opposite to September. Menu has totally changed to overpriced pub grub, my food was very salty and my husbands was very bland and under seasoned. The cheesecake pudding was inedible and genuinely tasted like strong soft cheese, mixed with a bit of passion fruit :( Safe to say we left extremely disappointed and left feeling like we had been conned out of £120! Definitely will not ever be returning.

First class all the way. From checking in to leaving. Our room located in the Coach House was fab, huge bed and very comfortable. All the staff are amazing and go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need (Special shout out to Jessie for being our ‘taxi’ to and from the races) the food was amazing both evenings and the breakfast has everything you could want and all was delicious. Will definitely be back!

Booked a table for 7pm as Sunday dinner was advertised as served all day. We both ordered roast beef only to be told they had ran out. Next choice was chicken but they had also ran out of that too! I settled for roast pork which was fine and my wife ordered burger and skinny chips. My wife's meal came and the chips were cold and had to be replaced. The presentation of the burger and chips was poor and it came without any salad. No disrespect to McDonald's but this did not reach that standard or warrant the price charged. Pity really as this was our first visit and a gift from our children. The venue had a good atmosphere and appeared popular but needs to be prepared better to ensure a returning clientelle

Went with a group of friends for Sunday lunch. Great atmosphere, warm and welcoming. Good options for Sunday lunch, food represented decent value for money with all the traditional choices. The Ham Hock starter was delicious and the roast beef was well cooked. Probably could have done with a little more vegetables and roasties but overall a good experience and we would definitely go back. The young staff were very polite and accommodating.

The place is lovely and the staff are very willing to help out. The room was nice and spacious with everything needed. We decided to have breakfast on the Sunday morning. There were 4 adults, 2 teenagers and a baby. When I went to settle to bill, I was extremely disappointed to be told that the baby was being charged full adult price. When we questioned this, we were told this was because they had ordered porridge!! This is completely unacceptable but we were told this was what they were charging as it was policy. A very nice stay tarnished by what is clearly greed. I will NOT be recommending.

Night one of a two night stay done! And yes, I may have supped a cocktail or two (lush ) but I can honestly say my Prawn Cocktail was the nicest I’ve ever tasted in my entire life, and I’m struggling to sleep, even tho the bed in Red Rum room (we’ve done ALL The Shining jokes ) is super comfy, I’m busy trying to work out how I can have another Prawn Cocktail for lunch AND dinner tomorrow ! Our room is so comfy, the Bar, Lounge & Restaurant are sublime! Blimey, even the ladies loos are worth a mention!!!’ We are plotting a return in the fine weather to sit in the beautiful Beer Garden & enjoy the real ale, lovely wine & strong strong cocktails! Can’t wait!! We will bring reinforcements!! Fabulous place!! Service with a smile too!

This is the forth time we have stayed at the Black Horse Inn. We keep going back which speaks volumes, this time with a group of 18 friends for a Christmas weekend. As usual the place was very homely. Friendly professional staff giving a warm welcome, good banter with the bar staff. All rooms nice and homely plus warm on a freezing weekend. We had three dogs with us and all made very welcome too. Meals were all lovely and the service excellent. All in all a great laid back weekend enjoyed by us all. We will be back again next year. Thanks to all the staff.
