We stayed here for one night to break up a longer journey and found this to be a really great place to stay. The rooms were beautiful, and the food was sumptuous - which certainly tempted me into eating far too much... The pub part was also perfect for relaxing with a good drink in front of the fire on... more

I feel that this establishment is losing out on visibility as it falls under so many categories on TRIP ADVISOR but maybe that's a plus! The rooms have been created with great attention to detail and are very comfortable. The staff is welcoming, friendly and efficient and despite it's highly accomplished offering it remains relaxed and casual. The accomodation can... more

Three couples celebrating their combined 111 years together had a fabulous 2 night stay here in September. The location in the southern Lake district is ideal to explore lovely gardens (Sizergh Castle) and a fab house at Blackwell. The food and service at the PunchBowl is excellent. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere informal. Our rooms were lovely with... more

Went for a wedding, stayed 2 nights. Experienced one normal night - open to everyone, Food and service fantastic, the best steak I have had in England. The Saturday it was open purely for the wedding. Everything was fantastic, food service etc. The rooms are full of character but modern. It really is great..... more

My husband and I spent two nights at The Punchbowl in July 2009. Having booked the break on the basis of the many positive reviews on tripadvisor as well as its accolade as 'Michelin Pub of the Year', we came with high expectations and were not in any way disappointed. The Inn has 9 bedrooms which are all individually styled... more

We picked this hotel after reading about it in a magazine and later on the hotel’s website on the date we wanted they were offering 20% off. Therefore, a done deal it was. On arriving, the weather was gorgeous and the hotel in a very quiet location was a welcome sight. Reception staff were extremely courteous but not over tentative.... more

Our son chose the Punchbowl for his wedding and it was the best thing he could have done, along with thirty family and friends we descended on Crossthwaite, and the Punchbowl could not have made the day more perfect. The room allocated for the ceremony was lovely and it was quickly transformed to our dining room while we enjoyed the most... more

We found the Punch Bowl a really friendly and comfortable, easy place to stay. The staff are attentive but very relaxed in their relationship with guests, they seem to genuinely care that you have everything that will make your visit enjoyable. They went far beyond the call of duty when one lovely member of staff rescued something that I had... more

We had one night here for my husband's birthday, and will most certainly be back! The whole stay was wonderful! We booked the room "Noble" after viewing the website, and it was every bit as good as, if not better than we had anicipated. On entering , you have your own private staircase up to the room itself, with little... more
