We stayed at the Lucerna the weekend of April 17. I have to stay that we were pleasently surprised. We had not been to Mexicali as adults and were concerned for safety issues since we were 3 women traveling alone. The hotel is in a very nice area and close to countless restaurants and stores. All employees were friendly and... more

At first I was skeptical about staying overnight in a border town, however the Lucerna was a nice oasis. Everyone was very helpful and everyone spoke English. The air temperature was 110 degrees so it was a relief that the pools were very relaxing and cool. The hotel is near grocery stores and restaurants, however a car helps in this... more

This was the second time we stayed at Lucerna. Though the rooms were a LOT cleaner this time, the restaurant food, again left a lot to be desired. However, everyone speaks English and they go out of their way to be helpful. On our last night stay, they had a sewage problem, and the smell was just awful. It is... more

Nice enough hotel. Staff are wonderful, and all speak English. Actually the best staff I've ever had in Mexico. Room was average, but the AC worked great and that's real important in Aug. The problem with Lucerna is the restaurants. Crazy overpriced, and food was not good at all, ever. Location could also be a problem unless you have a... more

My husband, myself and our spainish speaking son in law all checkeed in to the Lucena on Monday 27 th of June for a two night stay. We didnt expect much since this is a boarder town. As a rule boarder downs are not the best areas. But boy oh boy were we surprised. The room was very clean. Bathroom... more

Couldn't ask for better, so nice I almost forget I was in Baja. Our stay at the Hotel Lucerna was wonderful, we stayed in one of the cabanas by the pool, our accomadations were very clean, quiet and well kept. All of the staff were English speaking, very friendly and helpful. Room service was very quick, less than 15 minutes... more

One of the nicer places I have stayed in awhile! Staff was exeptional! I mean everyone! From the manager to the maids! The breakfast was wonderful, fresh fruit, muffins, eggs, bacon, you name they had it! Very very quiet at night, and had security guards as well. The bed was a little firm for me, but otherwise fine. If you... more

My family stayed at the Lucerna for 3 nights. It was great! better then any Mexico hotel that we have stayed at. It was very clean and kid friendly. The maid even came to our door every evening with a fruit basket for our 2 children. more

I stayed for on enight in Hotel Lucerna on April 6, 2004 and I was very surprised to find such a wonderful hotel in such a dusty city! It's very much like a resort in the way its marble lobby floors gleam and were constantly mopped, in the way its beautiful pool had a charming waterfall, in the way its... more
