This Hotel obviously believes that its location makes up for all its defecencies. The reception staff were not helpful and failed to give us certain information and in fact incorrect information about eating at the Hotel. The room was dark and dingy - there was no facility for making a hot drink. We subsequently found out that there was a... more

There is a difference between “historic” and badly in need of refurbishment. Our “superior” room was far from superior – the plumbing was dreadful – the bath/shower and toilet needed replacing. It was difficult to switch on the shower, the toilet would not flush and the cistern was filling all (sleepless) night. It was so bad that we found it... more

We were cold and wet on a motorcycle and the first place we saw at Lake Louise was Deer Lodge. It felt like a church camp retreat center, but not kept up as well. The room was large enough but a room that they used nice linens to disguise ill repair. The wi-fi did not work in our room. They... more

The location is great, the room was very clean, the front desk people were very helpful, and the view from the roof-top hot-tab was incredible. We will stay at this historical hotel on our next visit! more

I live in Montana. In the spur of the moment, my wife and I decided to visit tBanff National Park. We shouldn't have come to this area when Canadians celebrate Heritage Day: it is crawded and difficult to find a vacancy for the "long week-end" . We were able to book a room at the Deer Lodge. Now, after I... more

We spent three nights at the Deer Lodge. I agree with other reviewers that the initial impression, especially of the older part of the hotel, is poor. The corridors & carpets are dingy, our room was quite large with a double bed, a small table with a rickety chair, a tatty chest of drawers that could have come from a... more

My Fiance and I stayed at the Deer Lodge in June 2009. I was very excited to stay in such a historic building. The first impression was superb, the grounds were beautiful, and the views were breathtaking. The lobby and restaurants were also very quaint. We were given our keys for our room in the older part of the hotel.... more

We spent two nights at this lovely, old lodge. We did stay in the new section and had a lovely large room overlooking the mountains. Yes, the bathroom was small, but clean. I did take a look in the rooms in the older section and was definitely glad we selected the newer part of the lodge. We had two delicious... more

The description of a W"De Luxe Tower room" sounded quirky and different but the reality was a very small garret with heating you could not turn off, grubby bathroom with loads of mould and very little de luxe feel at all. A few days vbefore our departure we were invited to upgrade our accommodation by Deer Lodge but as we... more

We were looking forward to our stay especially with looking at the official website, and we got a great deal on the internet. But it was expensive for what we got - a box room big enough for a bed, no tea and coffee making facilities, dull depressing decor, badly lit corridors. Our room had tiny windows which barely let... more
