Nothing wrong with no-frills accommodation -- anything under a roof seems comfortable after a tent in the mountain back country. No phone, no problema. No aircon? Fine by me, as long as the windows open to let in the cool mountain air. And the Internet special at $158 Cdn. -- although hardly a no-frills price -- gets you a nice... more

We booked the "family suite" as we were traveling with our three kids. It's nothing more than a regular room with fold out foam thingy for the third bed that barely fit in the room - for $30 more per night than the regular room. Given the location and the lack of options for accommodations in the area, this inn... more

Stayed here for 2 nights in August. The lobby is very nice. We were in the motel section. The room was more than acceptable. Water was hot, water pressure was great. Beds were comfortable. I didn't notice that the room was especially noisy, but we did run the fan. There are no restaurants on site and breakfast is not included... more

We stayed at the Mountaineer, which as others have noted, is about the closest thing to a "budget" hotel you're going to find in Lake Louise. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were not only courteous but very helpful (on two occasions, they called around for information we needed for various reasons). As there is no phone... more

This Japanese-run motor hotel looks new on the outside, but is poorly constructed and has effectively no sound insulation: footsteps in nearby units are distinctly heard, and the plumbing makes the kind of noises expected in unrestored Victorians. Add to that the intermittent and bandwidth-limited wireless internet for an add-on price of $5.25/day (cash only, no receipt given!), and you... more

Budget accommodation doesn't exist in Lake Louise, so if you want a place to rest your head for the night that won't break the bank, then the Mountaineer Lodge is probably the best option. Our room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The Lodge buldings were attractive, especially the reception area and there was a nice hot tub facility. The... more

Beautiful lobby, just gorgeous! Average rooms, nothing special. The cleaning service was great but the staff, including management, left a lot to be desired! I would not recommend this hotel. We ended up switching to another hotel in the area half way through our stay that was less expenive, equally as nice and had a whole lot better service! We... more

There seems to be 2 grades of room at the Mountaineer, standard and luxury. We were in a 'luxury' room in the main building with reception. Our room featured a fridge/combi oven/coffee maker which was helpful, as we bought our breakfast things from the local bakery and just ate it in the room. The fridge was quite noisy though, but... more

An OK lodge that was clean enough if you can't afford better, but would probably move up to Baker's Creek Cabins next time. The hotel sits between a fairly busy highway and an extremely busy rail road. With the windows open, it sounds like the train is passing through your room at times. No frig or phone? Parking is cramped... more

We ended up having to stay here because our trip was delayed. We were lucky to have gotten the last room available. However the room must be the last to rent because it was filthy. The comforter had urine stains on it and when we removed it we found semen stains on the blanket. At least the sheets apeared clean.... more
