After driving through burned out Kootenay Park & traveling on ugly logging road for 30 minutes and spending another 30 minutes trying to find people on the property, we almost turned around and headed for another place to spend the night. SO GLAD WE DID NOT LEAVE! The property is peaceful and the hiking was amazing. Great place if you love hard core hiking that involves you, the mountains, and no other tourists. We had four amazing days of beautiful hikes that only required up to 45 minutes driving. Talk to the hiking & rafting guides--they know the area and give great instruction. CAVEATS: Food is not gourmet: it is family style, basic lodge food. Place seems to have grown faster than the owners' ability to keep up with growth but if you know what to expect (decent food, nice little cabins, peaceful spot, driving to great hiking), then you will love it. We thought it overpriced, but were happy to hike with nobody else around.
