I have stayed here 3 times, when I have been unable to get reservations at my prefered hotel. It is overpriced, but so is everything in GP! They are constantly building hotels in this city, and they are constantly booked solid, so they can charge what they like. The location is good as it it easy go pretty much anywhere... more

It did not have the frills of the other place I stayed in GP, i.e., pool, super large conference rooms, etc.. But then again, I did not need those. My only complaint would be that the wireless internet was slow at times. But if it got too slow, I would just go down to the business center and use the... more

Grande Prairie shows many of the problems associated with excessive economic growth. One of these is a shortage of hotel rooms allows hotels to charge exorbitant rates, with a night in the Grande Prairie Holiday Inn costing almost twice as much as a night at the Edmonton Westin. This problem may be accentuated by the near-monopoly in hotels enjoyed by... more

While being transferred to GP, we had to wait for our furniture to arrive. So we booked a stay at the Sandman in Grande Prairie. We had an executive Queen room, which was spacious, with a kitchenette, sitting / living room and seperate bedroom. The room was clean and very nice. The only drawback was it was located directly above... more

Upon checking in, the front desk staff said we were booked for the next weekend. This was their error. Fortunately they had a spare room and upgraded us. When we got to the room is reeked of smoke. A call downstairs told us that we had orginally booked a smoking room. Again, their mistake. They offered to have housekeeping ozone... more

I had a king room, which gets called a jr suite, on the top (4th) floor. It had a fridge and microwave. The bathtub is a bit small, but that was my only concern there. The room is papered in brown; there's a mirrored closet as you first enter. On the main floor, there's a pool and whirlpool, with a... more

I have had the good fortune of staying at the Sandman Hotel twice in the last year.My most recent stay was in mid November 2004.The hotel is right downtown and must surely be the newest hotel in town. It is very new which is always my preference. They have a brand new Denny's restaurant attached which has reasonably priced tasty... more
