Great location right in the downtown area. Harbor & restaurants within easy walking distance. Top floor room with a view if you can get it. Clean & fairly quiet. Breakfast is not free but good. Great walking path around harbor across the street. Underground parking for a fee. more

I stayed Bastion for a conference. I want to say that food served during the confenrece was superve. They offered great variety in both vegetarian and meat eaters selections. Plus huge selections of deserts! In a negative side, I was surprised that they didn't have "quick check-out" options as many other chains nowadays have. That should made check-out much efficent.... more

After taking the short ferry ride over to Vancouver Island we drove a short distance to Nanaimo and the coast bastion inn. We had a fantastic room over looking the harbour. It was lovely to sit and watch the seaplanes taking off and landing. We only stayed here one night but it was great with close proximity to the sea... more

My husband and I always stay at the Coast Bastion when in Nanaimo. We have stayed other places as well, but have found that this is our favorite. The Coast Bastion is one of the largest buildings in downtown Nanaimo, and certainly the only real choice in town if you are looking for an upscale chain property. The other "name brand" properties in town aren't even in the same league. (Best Western, Days Inn, Econolodge...). Stayed 2 nights on business with 2 adults and 2 children. Spacious rooms. Close to waterfront, and walking distance to malls with grocery and drug stores. It was being renovated when we were there, but there was minimum interruptions and the experience was above-average.
