The name of the place attracted me at first glance, given my musical predilections. While it turned out a musical disappointment, the Grateful Bed otherwise met with my expectations in terms of peace, quiet, and comfort. Hosts Ted (who likes the Dead but doesn't show it) and Joyce (who is ambivalent about the Dead) are friendly, welcoming people who keep... more

Our train from Prince Rupert was late arriving, but Ted was there to meet us. My wife couldn't eat much of the train food due to a wheat allergy, so Ted took us home where we dropped off our suitcases and then took us up the road to a Chinese restaurant. These are just two examples of the excellent service... more

I recently moved my son to UNBC in Prince George, from Jasper. I was looking for a reasonably priced room for my overnight stay & was not happy with even the lowest hotel rate, when all I wanted was a decent bed to sleep in. I searched B & B's & was attracted to the beautiful pictures of Joyce &... more

A nicely situated B&B in a residential street, we were offered excellent hospitality from Ted and Joyce in this homely accommodation. We had pre-arranged to be picked up at the train station and upon arrival greeted with ice tea and cookies, served in our own sitting area which was a nice touch. The room was very clean and tidy with... more

Train delayed but Ted came back for us and took us to their lovely bungalow. We arrived late so it was just a case of bed but we ended up chatting to Ted until 12 midnight with Joyce joining in telling us about the great winters!!! If Joyce escapes to Florida we hope she runs a B&B as we will... more

Cannot fault the hospitality, we were picked up from the train, and also - for a small fee - dropped back again the next morning. Good advice was given on where to get a meal. Ted and Joyce were very friendly, and everything was sparkling clean. The guests sitting room was well equipped, and the bedroom was small, but luxurious.... more

We were welcomed very friendly by Joyce who had prepared some ice-tea and delicious muffins as a treat for us. We could relax from the first minute on. Joyce made a perfect suggestion for dinner (the pizza place was just as we had imagined) and we enjoyed it in the backyard. Their dog Cisco kept us good company and is... more

I can't understand the grumpy Californians, we had a wonderful stay - full of laughs, great food, and a homey atmosphere. The private sitting area is supplied with a mini-fridge with homemade ice-tea, water and fresh cream for coffee. Baked goods were readily available and the Irish bread with my poached eggs was delicious. Squeaky clean throughout and a hot... more

This is the worst B&B experience I've ever had. Rooms are tiny-- big enough for a double bed and about two feet around each side. Bathroom is shared. There is no lock on the bedroom door. You have to go through the family's living space to enter or leave the house. There is absolutely no storage -- the bureau and closet... more

These guests were very difficult to please. The room they had booked was a standard-sized bedroom. Their claim that there was no storage space is false. We do store our linens for the room in the dresser of that room, but they each had two drawers in the nightstands on either side of the bed as well as a closet...

We stayed here as on overnight stop whilst on the Skeena from Prince Rupert to Jasper. We wanted something that wasn't just another faceless hotel and the Grateful Bed seemed like a good bet. The train was late in but Ted was still there waiting for us at the station which was really nice. The house was quiet, bed was... more
