This hotel has a 3 1/2 star rating and it should not. It should be a 1/2 star The Quarterdeck in Port Hardy has a 3 1/2 star rating and it should be a 4 star. One hotel cares the other does not. more

while some of the furniture is a bit shabby, the hotel staff more than makes staying here very pleasant. Rates were less expensive than nearby hotels, so good value indeed. For less than $90 we had a view of the harbour and found the location very convenient. It was within easy walking to the majority of sights and close to... more

For the price you'll pay for this place, shell out a few bucks more and stay at the Crest. I've stayed at the Crest a number of times but stayed here once only because the only bus to the airport leaves from the front door...a real bonus if you have a lot of gear. It's a big, ugly concrete block... more

The rooms in this hotel are spacious, with king size beds, generous desk area, a balcony with view, and wireless internet access. However, the building is practically surrounded by pubs and bars and the noise at night (up until 4 am) is rather annoying. It's been suggested that this is a normal occurrance from Thursday to Saturday night - so... more

We stayed at the Howard Johnson hotel in Prince Rupert for just one night (25th Sept). We only chose to stay there because we were taking the ferry from Port Hardy which did not arrive til after 10pm. The hotel looks pretty shabby from the outside (Prince Rupert itself was not a stunner though) but it was nice inside, comfortable,... more

I had no expectations of this hotel having read the reviews. Howver, we stayed for a night having arrived on the ferry from Port Hardy and have to say the rooms were much better than expected and of a very good size with all the amenities you could want. Service was excellent at breakfast and overall we had a very... more

We stayed here one night in August after arriving by train and leaving the next day by ferry to Vancouver Island. This place is ugly and a dump. We did not feel safe at all with all sorts of strange characters wandering the halls. The rooms were old and there was no air conditioning. The only window that we could... more

The Howard Johnson Highliner is an ugly sixteen-story concrete tower block that dominates the PR skyline – and that is the best thing about it, as on closer inspection it disappoints more and more. Every area of the hotel is worn and soiled, and the hotel is crying out for total refurbishment (or demolition). Amazingly, the bar and restaurant are... more

I don't want to waste too much time writing about this place. It was bad enough staying here. We were awake between 12am-4am as parties were taking place in the rooms above and beside us. We called the front desk twice to complain (we had to work the next day) but to no avail. When I went down the next... more
