We were delighted with this hotel! The staff were friendly, cheerful and very helpful. The location was great - close to Stanley Park and the beach. My husband's in a wheelchair so the walk along the seawall was a real plus. We were based at the hotel for 4 weeks in their adapted disabled room. The maids looked after us... more

I have been staying at this hotel for almost 3 years, and I am very impressed with the quality of service provided by the front desk staff. Jeff is very knowledgeble about city information, when I asked him for directions/bus info, he had the answers to everything without searching for it. Eddy, has always been very friendly and helpful. and... more

Good location. Near Sunset Beach, Stanley Park and good restaurants. Friendly staff. Ask a question or directions and they had the answer. We had a room in the back(not strret side). It was very quiet. If you have a car, there is an extra $10 a day parking fee. more

We were in Vancouver to celebrate a local friend's birthday and rented two rooms in this hotel. One of our rooms was not available when we checked in, so we dropped our luggage off in one room, met up with our friends, and went for a walk up Davie Street. As we approached our hotel after our walk, we witnessed... more

I agree that this incident is disturbing, however it was an isolated incident, and I'd like to provide some clarity and perspective. The "homeless man" involved had, earlier in the evening, attempted a dine-and-dash in our restaurant. He was confronted at this time, and immediately became violent and threatened two of my staff member's lives. Police were called and the...

I selected Best Western Sands primarily because I had gift cards that I got when I redeemed air miles. BW was in my price range and the location was by English Bay, one of my favourite places. I wanted a room that was clean, had free wireless internet, a hair dryer and reasonable paid parking. I got all that I... more

We were enjoying our stay until we went to the Sands Bayside Lounge for a nightcap. The bar was busy so we waited in line to be seated and were eventually led to a seat at the bar by the hostess and doorman. After sitting down, we were rudely told by the bar manager those seats were taken. He was... more

Positives/Neutrals The location is great. Right at English Bay. Lots of shops, amenities, transit. Quick walk to Stanley Park. Staff were fine. I appreciated the management's attention to security when we were there as 300,000 people were descending on English Bay for the annual fireworks festival and the hotel had on extra staff to cope with ensuring only hotel guests... more

We could not have picked a better location for our stay; the staff was outstandingly helpful and friendly. It's a hopping neighborhood with more restaurants than you can shake a stick at, and two-block access to the beach, Stanley Park, bay trails and more. Several aspects of the rooms are decrepit -- substandard AC, obvious gaps at tops of doors,... more
