We spent our honeymoon in Victoria at the Helms Inn, Oct. 29-Nov. 1. The room was large, clean, and cozy, with a well-equipped kitchenette, and nice "home-y" touches like a live flower in a vase on the dinette table and a statue of a sleeping cat on top of the TV stand. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When... more
We stayed at the Helm's on October 26th, 2007. We only stayed one night but it was enough time to convince us how nice the Helm's Inn was. The room was very clean and cozy and came with a nice size kitchenette which we would have used if we stayed longer. It's nice to know that we don't have to... more
Helm's Inn is well located in the center of Victoria at walking distance from downtown area and touristic attractions, just between Inner Harbour and Beacon hill park. There are three buildings in the property. All of them are quite old even though uptaded in some details. Staff at check in were a bit cold and unhelpful, lobby is small and... more
Helm’s Inn is divided in different blocks. We stayed at the Mount Royal building which offered extremely large rooms and comfortable. It is very well located between Beacon Hill Park and BC Royal Museum and therefore the Inner Harbour and the Parliament Building is a two minutes walk. There is the possibility of having breakfast in our room for 10CADs... more
Pros: VERY big room with a equipped kitchen and stove, oven, AND microwave. Coffee and tea were both good quality. Room had an extra bed. Close to museums, main streets, and park but far enough that it isn't too noisy. The Noodle Box is a delicious place to eat and it is just down the street from the inn. Cons:... more
I will definitely consider if I visit Victoria in the future. The bed linen and pillows need upgrading, though. Love the huge kitchenette! more
I would rate the actual room higher, it was a suite with a kitchen, very nice and clean with a huge bathroom. Location was great. It's the little things that count though. The AAA book, which just came out in Feb 2007, says the room included free wifi internet and continental breakfast. The front desk person said they stopped that... more
Older style hotel comprising three seperate buildings located very close to Victoria Harbour. Great for dropping off hire car and/or catching bus to Vancouver. Good value compared with large international chain hotels Room was very pleasant and a good size. Limited free car parking but get in early. more
Stayed at the Helm's Inn recently. Some of the staff were very friendly, others were somewhat unhelpful and cocky. There are some nice amenities: free computer access, free coffee, cooking facilities. However, the buildings are poorly constructed. It is a noise trap. Further, there was a blackout when we were there. Unfortunately, the staff did not provide us any discount... more
